Why is Par Vollen always the jumping off point for invasion? The history of Arlathen claims that humans first appeared in Par Vollen and then spread. Qunari first appeared in Par Vollen and then spread. The Qunari were meant to have come by ship but there is nothing stated about how the humans got there. Where did the humans come from? What is so special about Par Vollen that people choose that as a base out of all the other locations available?
Where are the Qunari from?

Qunari, or kossith, presumably originate on a different continent. Par Vollen is explicitly not their original homeland. Interestingly, it is possible that humans also originated on this same continent, since they are also said to have arrived in Thedas from Par Vollen, which already has a native race: the Fex.

What if the Qunari are actually the minority of the Kossith race or an offshoot of their dominant religion/philosophy? And they're "pilgrims" of sorts. That would be interesting

We travel the endless path to enlightenment, we come from the hell of ignorance and we strive to attain paradise under the Qun.

Another thing, maybe off topic but since it was brought up. Why do Elves suck? Thedas is originally Elvhen. The damn theme song for the IP "In Uthenera" is an ancient Elvhen right for the dead/departed. Yet Humans, Dwarves, and Kossith invade their land and pwn them miserably. What gives Mr. Gaider? Are you just evil like that?

Basically, elves suck because they are the indigenous population. And when hardy foreign conquerors come from over the sea, indigenous populations get the shaft every time.
It even holds true to the dwarves, if you count darkspawn as foreign conquerors.

Someone shafted the elves and took away their powerbase. The elves explain this phenomenon with the story of Fen'Harel. Someone also wanted them rendered powerless in the future so ensured that the humans had the ability to totally destroy any vestiges of their ancient civilisation. I live in hope that one day we will be allowed to discover the "secret" behind this ancient history and reverse the process, assuming of course that this is done in the knowledge the elves were originally the "good guys" as they claim. Starting a popular elven revolt in Tevinter on the basis of a discovery made deep underground in the location of old Arlathan and that ultimately succeeds in toppling the Magisters would appeal to me but on the whole Bioware don't hold with "happy" endings so it's unlikely to be allowed to occur.
