YAY the angel love is in here. The Buffyverse vampires are the ones I usually think of. Problem with them is their demons taking over your body and your dead. So no I wouldn't want that. Anyone who knows the story knows Angel is cursed with his soul so he's remembering everything the demon did while his soul is gone.
And just for the record... I don't understand why people are bringing up Twilight there are no vampires in that.

I would only become a vampire if I could have a significant other who I could love and love me in return. Both of us would be vampires and we would both subsist off of animal blood. Only time we'd drink human blood is when we killed people like pedophiles and rapists and murderers. Cleaning up the world one crazy person at a time.

Immortality and superpowers and the only real price is that I have to forsake a tan and the diet is rather odd? That's a no-brainer.

I'm a baker who works overnight, so I'm pretty much a vampire, minus the whole immortality thing.

I'm afraid I would seriously consider it. I would, if I am honest, probably jump at any chance at immortality (including something like becoming a lich) and then deal with the regrets later. I'm not proud of that fact - but there it is. I'd probably also be the sort of vampire who'd make their family and close friends vampires and be certain they were doing them a big favour, even if they actually weren't.
I'd have less problems with being undead than some people would. All of the things I enjoy most I could still enjoy just as well, even if I'd have to move to doing some of them in the night instead of day.

My preferred form of immortality would be as the elves of Middle-earth. Not dying of old age or disease and being quite tough, but if I ever did want a way out I could be killed. Being undead might be a bit of a drag, so I'd prefer to still be alive; and most of the undead could be killed anyhow.

If I had the choice, then why not be an elf with immortality? It would beat being a vampire who needs to drink blood for survival. Also...trees are pretty!

I think it's easy for us indoor nerds to say we wouldn't miss the sun.
Also, would you be willing to kill others to sustain your immortality? If I was a vampire I would be like Lestat- picking out the corrupt and killing them off. I would target sex predators in particular. This brand of criminal I have always wanted to execute justice on. I would lure them in and then kill them. That would be a damn good novel- a female vampire that tracks sex predators and brutally murders them. Thats going in my notebook.

I'd give it up if I could become a vampire from the Blade movie universe. Unlike most vampire types, they don't have trouble procreating. It'd be easier to "live" as a pureblood than as a converted though, due to them being rich and powerful and everything, and them owning blood banks would save me the trouble of hunting down people to feed on. Aside from the fact that most see humans as a food source, they do seem to have a level of conscience not unlike ours.
Of course, I'd have to worry about Blade hunting me down however.
