Life sucks already; I think living forever would be a fate's worse than hell. The effect would probably be cool the first century, but then it would get sucky real quick. The VtM types of vampires are the best and all, but a lot of them hate the politicing that goes alongside with vampirism. Anyways, I wouldn't mind being an Antediluvian--sounds a lot like antes de la lluvia (Spanish for after the rain, if I remember correctly), but having people wanting to devour my soul doesn't sound cool.

I'm not sure how it would mean giving up your family ... presumably we're not talking about the mindless vampire type which is basically a blood sucking zombie - so you wouldn't be forced to eat them - and I can trust my family enough not to give away my secret.  (or put a stake in me)  

As a student of History the opportunity to live centuries and watch the raise and fall of civilizations would be reason enough for me to leap at this chance.  Not to mention, I try to stay out of the sunlight as is, so I'd never miss it. (and if I did, that is what projectors and video are for ... I could watch a false sunrise as often as I wanted and never have to deal with the scorching heat)

If we were talking WoD vampires, I would totally have to be Malkavian, though ... or Toreador at the very least.

As much as I enjoy life, I have no desire to live forever. Besides, even Vampires wouldn't truly live forever. Eventually our Sun will begin to 'die' and as it does it will greatly expand and go into a Red Giant phase. During that phase the Earth's atmosphere will be blasted away and the oceans boiled off, and anything that was living on the planet will die. The Earth may even be swallowed by the expanding sun.

That seems a much worse end for a vampire than just dying naturally and skipping the whole 'undead' phase.

I think you would give up more than sun light to become a vampire.

1: Your personality

You probably become really anti-social . Since well you can't interact much with humanity or you might perceive them has food. So you just become a no-lifer **** (outside of being an undead)

2: Solitude

Being a no-lifer mean you will go through long period of loneliness. The world will change but not you. You will still listen to Lady GAGA in years 4078 . Everyone you knew and loved will perish and you will persist. You will just exist for thousand of years .. You will go through long depression that will last hundred of years. Because no anti-depressant will work and no psy will understand you.

3: Sex

After getting laid with one millions lady you might  start to think it's boring.


Yeah Hollywood always go for the 'night club life' and the super secret society of vampire ruling the world from beyond but,  I  think a vampire would be more like the little girl in let's me in.
