Sorry, you will have to add the appropriate line breaks where they belong -- no one here will bother trying to interpret that unformatted blob you've posted.

Beyond that, the subject already exists, although the one for DA2 got out of hand, and I was forced to have it locked.

Can my PC run this game? (DAO)
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/7311001

Can my PC run this game? (DA2, locked)
http://social.biowar...1/index/7734128

Can my PC run this game? (ME2)
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/106/index/7484236

This is edited from what was originally the Opening Post of the DA2 instance of the "Can Your PC Run it" series:

                            This PC didn't have a snowball's chance

("Sample Generic new Member") wrote...

So, can this PC run DA2, and if so, what kind of settings (low, med, high) would I be able to set it to?  (graphics):

CPU: Intel Core Duo i3-380M (2,53 GHz, 3 MB)
RAM: 3 GB
Video: Intel GMA HD (max memory 1567 MB)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Tried looking for information about this but with no success.

The answer was: "Not at all well."

Although edited somewhat, with apologies to the author, the same question was asked in a Registered-owners only forum.  Neither DAO nor ME2 currently require registration to post in the PC Tech forum, and there was no similar option in either of those forums until recently.  So far, takers have been shy about revealing their need to ask this type question in those threads, but DA2 is still fairly new -- perhaps there will be some interested new arrivals wanting to know what this quoted member did.

(The Intel video chip is an inadequate graphics device that would do poorly if it wasn't killed quickly by the stress.)

So: Can YOUR own PC run this game?

      Minimum:
OS: Windows XP 32-bit with SP3
OS: Windows Vista 32-bit with SP2
      OS: Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Video: Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB (should be 2600 XT or X1800 GTO)
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS 256 MB cards (unless this should be
         7800 GS)
Disc Drive: DVD ROM drive required
      Hard Drive: 7 GB
Sound: Direct X 9.0c Compatible Sound Card Windows Experience
         Index: 4.5

Laptop or mobile versions of the above supported video cards
have not had extensive testing and may have driver or other
performance issues. As such, they are not officially
           supported in Dragon Age II.

Please note: this isn't designed as a platform for fanboy arguments one
way or the other about anything Intel does, no matter how crooked,
illegal, or unethical, nor do the individual merits of Geforces vs. Radeons
have an appropriate place in the thread.   What I'm intending is a venue
where a new arrival can check his / her PC out before buying the game.
What we don't want is arguing, complaining, and wasting space about
extraneous matters, such as other games.

There is an ignorant advertising gimmick of a web site that purports to
answer this question, but is so inaccurate and so very bad that anyone
recommending the place to others is just branding himself / herself
immediately as a noob, rube, or troll.  The SR Labs are not at all
professional, not in the slightest.  Forget about them.

Short answer is maybe to probably.  NO laptop is supported becuse generally they don't follow all the rules like having a seperate graphics card and cpu, they(laptops) generally share resources much more than a Tower computer.  Laptops also have a hard time with heat, much more so than towers just because of how they are designed and the space they have stuff crammed into.  The only real way to know if you will be able to run the program or run it for any length of time is to actually do it, and see one if it works(it probably will) and two does it overheat.  Too much heat and you turn your nice shiney laptop into a nice bookend.

Your (useful) spec info:
  • Brand: MSI
  • Model: GT780R-057

  • Optical Drive: Blu-Ray Burner

  • Video Memory: 1.5GB GDDR5 VRAM
  • Graphic Type: Dedicated Card

Well according to NVIDIA, "... the GeForce GTX 560M plays the latest DirectX 11 games without breaking a sweat." -- so maybe it won't have the problems that so many users have had concerning the DirectX 11 aspect of the game.

Hard drive size/speed/type seems like it would be great for gaming (or anything else).

One matter of concern is the speed of the CPU -- I know it said that it could be turbo boosted (overclocked) to 2.9, but that does seem like it could cause some issues.  In my personal experience, the CPU speed really does make a difference!

I use a laptop (exclusively) and play DA:O, DAII, NwN 2, ME2, DDO, etc.  I will admit that the biggest issue I have had with mine is heat related ... matter of fact, as I write this, I am laying on floor with laptop over the air vent!  I firmly suggest purchasing a laptop cooler of some sort.

My laptop specs:
  • Brand: Toshiba
  • Model: Satellite L555D-S7005

  • RAM: 4GB DDR2 800MHz memory
  • Video: ATI® Radeon™ HD 4200
  • Hard drive: 320GB HDD (5400rpm)
  • Display: 17.3" widescreen with HD+ TruBrite® LED Backlit display

Actually, I think the "unformatted blob" from the OP's post is due to a forum issue ... see my earlier post -- I had everything formatted correctly, but it did the same thing as the OP ... hence the reason I had to bullet list it.

There is a Guide to the information that is needed for the members to be able to assist that specifically names punctuation and paragraph breaks as part of what is needed. Ignoring that pinned thread is step one of ways to avoid getting good answers. The composition window is a very standard one, with no hidden tricks at all, but attempting a paste from an outside source is a very, VERY bad and unworkable idea for most composition windows, unless the source is a straightforward text editor program similar to Windows' own Notepad.

Notepad is exactly what I pasted my response from, as I prefer to have my responses stripped of formatting prior to posting, so as not to have this issue.  I've posted on this forum before without any issues. I was only offering an opinion as to what I thought might be the reason behind the garbled OP post.
