Now i realise i might not be able to handle it.
I have a Radeon 9800 XT video card, and know jack **** about what can run what. I get the "Failed to detect a supported video card" message that ****s me hard...
My version is 8.561.0.0, hoping i can update this for a chance to play this game? If not what will i have to get, i'm willing to spend a few bucks on a new video card, maybe even one for my future games, but don't know what's best/what's supported/what else i'll have to upgrade. This just never seemed to doom upon me, been playing Counter strike source, team fortress 2, and for awhile age of conan on high settings etc...
Any helps appreciated, even if you bust my balls.

Still need a lab-rat to come along and tell me whether to have hope or not with my graphics card.

Kind of went head over shoes for this game and just went out and straight bought it. Don't really play many games on the PC but modern warfare 2 was taking over my life and i felt like something new, and this looked dope. If the 360 version didn't suck so much ass i'd of gone with it but the PC seemed the best choice hands down.

Your card is too old and the game is too new. You need a newer ATI or a 8000+ or better nvidia. I'm not an ATI person. I love the company but I don't like the way their cards render graphics (personal preference only) otherwise they are fantastic cards, but to play the game, go out and buy a CHEAP, bottom line ATI card of the latest generation.. and I bet that new card will whip the pants off your old 9800!

This game REALLY pushes the DX9 specs. I'm quite shocked that it wasn't a DX10 or 10.1 game.... it sure looks like it

This is the cheapest:

But is that good enough? For a few years anyway? I might be willing to go a bit extra on this crazy looking ****

Opinion?
Thanks for the help.

Take for example my PC which runs it just fine most the time.
AM2 X2 5400+ @ 2.8GHz
4Gigz DDR2 800MHz
GigiByte HD 4890OC (900MHz Core/1000MHz GDDR5)
Seagate 750G HDD 7200.12 SATA
MSI K9A2GM V3 mobo (replacing shortly lol)
even with this PC though I still get random slow downs that I'am pretty sure are caused by the excesive use of the CPU which also raised my average load temp from 107 to 131 which I didn't like an my room stays around 70F all the time but I doubt its a heat issue in my case reguardless.

For starters, if you know jack crap about computers, then I'm giong to assume you know jack crap about different types of video cards and motherboards. Here's what I recommend doing:
Download this program and run it:
http://www.belarc.co...e_download.html
It will tell you exactly what hardware you have. Then you need to look at your motherboard model (google it) and see what kind of ports it has for video cards. (ie AGP, PCI, PCI-E)
Once you've done and know what kind of graphic card port you have, THEN you can go out looking for a new card that will work with your motherboard.
After you find a card that will work with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your current power supply will work with the card and seeing what kind of power it needs (rating, pin connections etc). This will save you a lot of trouble so if you have to order a 4 pin to 6 pin adapter etc that you do it at the same time or so that you don't get everything and then realize that your power supply is crap and doesn't have enough juice for the card you're getting.
Yeah, it sounds a little complicated/time consuming but it's better to spend time and make sure everything SHOULD be compatible and work together when you order than just guessing and having to send things back or find out that you need to upgrade a whole lot more in order to use what you just bought.

This is a good example of why the minimum requirements for a game need to be read before purchase. That graphics card does not support the correct shader model for Dragon Age, and thus it is impossible to run. Also, although a few 9800 cards were PCI-E connection to the motherboard, the vast majority were the older AGP. If your motherboard/gpu are AGP then there is very little option for upgrading your graphics card without spending way over the odds on price vs. performance.
Go to your Start Menu, select Run and then type "dxdiag" in the text box (without the quotation marks). There is a button on the bottom of the screen that appears called "Save all information". Click it and save the .txt file somewhere. Then copy/paste the results in this thread.
Good luck.
