I have a digital version of DaO Ult. patch 1.05. I had a Steam download but had authentication issues so I downloaded this copy from Origin & updated to v1.05. When I tried to play Return to Ostegar the game would crash to the desktop with about a 1 second black screen. It doesn't happen at any particular spot. If I save in Ostegar it can't be loaded later.
I tried reloading Return to Ostegar as listed here with no change.
I started a new game. Now when I try to get to the tower in Ostegar I get the same crash.
I'm running XP Pro., Service Pack 2, 32 bit on a AMD Phenom 9500 quad core 2199 Mhz. I have 4 Gig. RAM. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GSO with 768 MB memory.

reloading as in Redownlaoding a fresh copy after deleting your current one, clearing your cache and using a clean browser without add-ons such as Google chrome??
The usual, not only, but usual reason for a crash in a specific point is corrupted data, so the first step is to do the above and then reinstall a clean copy and see if it fixes it. Also list any mods you are currently running as well, because they also may be the issue.
