It would depend on who killed them. If it was Cerberus, well not much would change. I still plan to wipe them out for Akuze. If it was the Reapers, Then i would take extral long killing Harby. If it was the Batarians I would go to Khar'shan and do Arrival 2.0.

As for my Sheps emotional state? He owuld probably slip from paragade to very renegade.

My main, and most loved Shepard, is single. She wouldn't romance any of her crew for the sake of the mission, lest it undermine her command or cause her to hesitate in situations such as Virmire.

If she had to lose any of her crew, she would sacrifice them, and herself, for the greater good. If she lost a friend like Tali or Kasumi, she would mourn for a time, but ultimately she would finish the mission before she let it get to her.

If it was one of her closest friends though, Anderson, Joker, Chakwas or Wrex, she'd likely hunt down everyone and everything associated with their death and rip them apart with her bare hands.

If my Shepard loses Jack, then he's going to burn the Galaxy until every merc, terrorist, Reaper, sentient killing machine, rabid bunny and politician is killed so dead their ancestors will feel it like a punch to the groin. Members of generations to come will occasionally just drop dead from the ambient furious vengeance Shepard's passage through the Galaxy will generate.

In other words, Shep's gonna be f****d off!

There is only one proper response if Bioware forces this: Alt+F4, box game up, return to retailer for refund.

Now, for my Shepard's response if it did happen...

He would exact revenge.  He would exact a revenge against the Reapers that was bibilical in its proportions.  His actions would be so heinous, so soul-crushingly terrifying, that the demise of the Reapers at his hands would be spoken of only in whispers for the next thousand years.

Well if Thane doesn't die in the war then he'll probably die soon anyway, so while Shepard would be sad that he's gone, she would also be happy that he got to die a death that seemed meaningful.

And she'd promise him that she'd do what she could to help out Kolyat if he ever needs it. It would be sweet, and epic, and awesome.

i expect a screen a few minutes out from this happening if its scripted :

"Warning the events you are about to experience may cause uncontrollable rage. We would advise you changing your really expensive huge monitor for the crappy one you keep around just incase."

When it does happen..... monitor goes out the window.

If it doesnt happen in a meaningful way im big with the ragequit /driving an hour to edmonton.

Similar to Dom's reaction in Gears of War 2 after finding Maria; complete shock and depression. My Shep would still press on to defeat the Reapers, but would give his own life to do it.

Unfortunately Shepard will always have the emotional range of a brick. Jennifer Hale does what she can, but the dialogue isn't written to be overly maudlin like I would prefer in these situations.

IRL, I would imagine it would be much the same as how I reacted when Alistair surprised me with killing the Archdemon in DA:O... I would sob. And sob. And sob. And wonder how a game is doing this to me. Then I would crawl out of the Kleenex, finish the game, then ninja-restart to before he dies and find a way to undo it! *shoves Alistair into Morrigan's bed* All is right with the world!

this. tHIS. Heinous, unspeakable crimes aganist the galaxy will be committed if/ when loses thane. Very little would survive, but those who did would envy the dead. Seriously though. My shepard has given everything, sacrificed all, and demanded nothng in return for her service first to the alliance and next to the universe as a spectre. Happy to serve, proud to die for the greater cause -- if they murder Thane cause "that'd be cool"

Then I'd fire up the Lazarus project Thane edition.
