Shades are easier to have pop out of thin air than other creatures.

Yeah, storywise, I get that.  I guess that's why I wondered if there was a significant difference in creature variety from the first game to this one because the shades seemed heavily overused whereas, in the other game, I really didn't seem to get tired of facing the same creature(s), time after time.  So I'm not sure why that should be except to say that the shade novelty factor wore off fast...very fast.

Maybe it was my trip through Danarius' Mansion (a. k. a. Shade Respawn Alley) that turned me off of them for the rest of the game but, if I ever see another one of those "brown ghosts" again, it'll be far too soon.

Okay, this gets me: the backstab is not a teleport. It's slight of hand/misdirection, something that a rogue should be able to do in his/her sleep, as it's part of the trade. Should Bioware have given backstab a certain range, so the avatar is close in to the enemy when the smoke drops rather than being able to do so across the field? Maybe, but it's not a teleport.

I agree, but apparently dao combat was "boring". I think that's a classic example of the "vocal minority" getting their way, because despite cartooning up da2 combat, look where we are.

Re: the spelling thing:

"You spelt something incorrectly there"

"Oh did I? Sorry, this isn't my first language - Thanks! :-)" *edit*

"You're absolutely welcome. Your X is excellent, by the way!"

"Thanks"

That's how it normally goes if I'm typing in another language and make a mistake. Correct response worthy of a cookie^

I find it hard to imagine wanting to be wrong and archly rebuffing native speakers helping me, as if I knew better than them!

DAO's combat was so clunky, especially if you were any class other than a mage. It's so annoying to select an attack and then have to wait 10-15 seconds before it actually happens because my character has to awkwardly crab walk into position first due to the enemy being crowded by my other characters and other enemies. I personally have much more fun doing battles with DA2's combat system even if it's not perfect itself.

Oh well, YMMV. I loved the combat in DA:O. Wouldn't have bought DA2 if I hadn't.

No problems I could list with the combat in DA:O required radical changes to fix.
