Hi

I'm having a problem running ME1 on my PC. There are 2 main problems

1.- when trying to run the Configuration Tool (MassEffectConfig.exe) it just crashes, I've tried running the tool with win XP SP2, win XP SP3, Win Vista SP1 compatibility mode (all of them with admin profile) and it allways crashes.

2.- I run the MassEffect.exe program directly and everything works, until I load the saved game and I'm in a level were I'm on a "tank" in this level some of the textures are only black, I've googled and found that this is a problem on some cache and that tech stuff and they say that it can be solved witht the Configuration Tools usint the "repair tool", but that bring us to the first problem

At this moment I'm downloading the MassEffect_EFIGS_1.02.exe patch and I'll update my video card drivers but I dont't that the problem lives on the "driver" side. But meanwhile can you guys help me with some ideas??

My pc is

AMD Phemon 2 x6 1090T
Radeon 5830 1GB
8 GB RAM
Win 7 Ultimate

First thing is to update the game, which you said you were doing, that usually fixes it. If not give some more info on drivers and such and we can go from there.

Golden Rule of gaming is to always find, and apply, any available patches before attempting to run the game.
The 1.02 patch not only fixes the config util crash, but also adds extra stability for Win7 systems running the game.
Also, make sure you run teh game in XP compatibility mode, as well as with admin privileges.

Thanks @Mcsupersport and @Bogsnot1 for your quick replies. What I did (and hope this could help for any one with the same problem I had) was to install the 1.02 patch. open the config tool, and at the repair manu clean the shadder cache. then to the MassEffect.exe program Grant admin privileges and set the Win XP SP3 compatibility.

Thanks guys.
