These forums remind of the world of warcraft forums. With the character creator/achievement  integration there seems to be a base to later integrate swtor characters and handle servers etc. Very smart.

I really love how Bioware nurtures the community around their games.

This reminds me of kinda what WoTC did with their new community. Like it so far.

I was thinking this could become a central hub for all BioWare games, which includes SWTOR.

Please no SWTOR here. The community on that site is very different.

I see little chance of the SWToR forums being moved here. Their current forums were kept separate from the rest of the Bioware community and it's probably going to stay that way. I guess since it's a joint venture, they like to keep it on neutral ground. Or maybe they just didn't want to stress either of the old forums with having an entire MMO community dumped on them.

I can see the social site becoming the home of future Bioware/EA products like Mass Effect and whatever the secretive "new next gen game" is, though.

And the SWToR forum can get its own custom avatars or whatever. :P

SWTOR has a bajillion members on its site. Merging it with this one would mean a big flood; and as Maria has said, the community is very very different. While I foresee sites being linked to one another, it would probably be prudent to keep things separate.

Considering that this is a 'social.bioware.com' home and not a 'social.dragonage.com' or 'modding.bioware.com' home, I wouldn't rule out future Mass Effect installments and SW: TOR being used with the same social site setup. Tracking online achievements, seeing where people are in TOR, watching who you romance in ME2, etc. Whether that means the entire communities merging here, or having their own portal outlets co-joined through this site, I do not know. But it would not surprise me.

The tab on the left of our screens, with the 'Games' pulldown menu that shows a list of games/systems, is the biggest hint, to me, that some kind of merger is inevitable.  Besides, I hardly think BioWare went through all this trouble to develop such a social site only to make it a 'speshul haven' for Dragon Age people.

I am inclined to agree somewhat. I think there are a lot of people who will like both games, but a significant portion of the DAO audience is thrilled about the Single Player RPG aspect of it  and are somewhat resentful about the notion of RPG games going MMORPG. I would hate for that to be percieved as hostility towards MMORPG players.

We should all have the chance to be among people of similar interests but a MMORPG meets SPRPG community seems to me like a ...well battlefield.

I want my old portrait back! Also I don't really know what I'm doing here, since I've already mentioned in OT that I'm not very social.

MMO forums means more people, more people means more crazies, more trolls, and less friendly atmosphere. Its nothing against MMO, its just how it happens (I'm a MMO player myself).

But on the avatars, I really hope they gear up as you gear the character up :D That would be a new level of sexy. Unless you end up with a bucket helm, thats not attractive at all.

Edit: quote fail -_-

Not at the moment. Haven't heard anything on whether that's intended. This place could become everything the Vault isn't, however.

I think an MMO community might just be too much to merge into another more general game community, although I'm a member of both.

It would be nice if you could link the two accounts to each other, though, so there's at least some information available in your profile about who you are and what you have in the other community.

Each game has its own core community I suppose. Still, I move around all the Bioware boards and I have been for like 5 years now. It would really be super to have one site I can totally fangirl on.
