I have a slow processor though. It is always bottlenecking my 9800gt.

Does the game need the extra 1gb? There seems to be another 1.4gb out of 3.2gb free. Why doesn't it use it?

I was wrong on 70%. It is only 57%. I swore there was something that used 70% though.

Short Answer: 32-bit system can't use more than 3GB.

Let's have an example here. The reason a 32-bit system doesn't max out
the ram even if more ram is needed is because it cannot. It simply
cannot do it no matter what.

Let's say, you have 16GB memory and
two HD5870 with 1GB graphical memory each, and you are crazy and
decided to run 4 Crysis at the same time on 4 different monitors on
max. Obviously, this task will heavily demand memory, let's just assume
that a total of 12GB memory is required for optimal gameplay.

For
some reason, you decide to run it in Win XP/Vista/7 32-bit version
instead of 64-bit version. Even though your 4 Crysises are lagging at
maybe 1 or 2 fps(though more likely they won't run at all, but let's
just assume), your system will use only 3GB memory. In layman's term:
32-bit system is dumb, and can't count memory above 3gb.

The folowing link explains the 3.2GB limit.

Some software is not able to run in a 64-bit environment, even if it tries to "pretend". Drivers are pretty terrible for this, Gametap has been fighting tooth and nail to start their 64-bit support up.

We'll see what my i5 with 2gb XMS3 does in 2010 then. I can assure myself it'll still be a wonderful experience. I only game at 1280x1024.

I know the limit. I got 4gb ram just because I have double dual channel and I had 3gb before. You know, Vista, and ram.

As I see it, my programs have plenty of ram even out of only 3gb.

I can't wait to see how DA runs. The CC was too much of a teaser.

I ended up building a new system at least partly for DA and ME2 so am looking forward to getting them and running them with everything on highest.

i7 860 (2.8Ghz)
8GB Ram
ATI Radeon 5850
Win7 and Linux (Both 64bit)

Though based on what the developers have been saying my older laptop should manage the game as well on somewhat lower settings. Which will be good allowing me to drag the game around with me over christmas.

I upgraded my machine a couple months ago.

What I had before:

Athlon XP 3200+ (1.8 GHz, single core, ran pretty damn hot too)
1gb Ram, I forgot the brand
8800GTS 640mb vram
Some old 940 socket mobo
Win XP

What I have now:

Intel i7 920 (2.67 Ghz)
6gb Corsair 1333 DDR3 ram
Same 8800GTS
Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo
Win 7 64bit

all shove into a new Antec P182.

I upgraded because a single core CPU just does not make things run anymore. And because I wanted to play Empire: Total War which completely demolished my CPU (5 FPS in a not full battle on lowest settings.)

I still need a new video card, but this 8800 can still last me awhile.

I think my Core2Duo, eVGA 680 SLI, 2GB o' RAM, and GTX280 will suffice for now but in about a month I'll be putting together a new box. I'm thinking Core i7, Asus P6T Deluxe V2, 6GB o' RAM, Windows 7, and either an ATI HD5870 or Nvidia GT300 (whenever that shows up) vid card all going into a Silverstone Fortress FT02 case.  I'll keep my monitor which is a Westinghouse 37" HDTV ^_^

Just wanted more ram for my virtualized systems, now i can run them all with 3gb ram each not 1

Actually, I juts got my 4890, 1000watt PSU, and my new case last month.

This month, I've got my CPU and my new shiny 1.5 TB HD.

Monday I will be getting my mobo, and putting it all together. :) I may even add a second 4890 in the mix... >.>

Well I replaced my GeForce 8800GT with a GeForce GTX275 OC'd version, but other than that, it's still the same rig. Asides from finally banishing the abomination that is Windows Vista to the Depths of Hell, ofc.

What do you guys think of the nvidia 7900 gs? I'm seriously not computer savvy, but thats what manages what quality I can play the game at, correct?

I haven't had decent gaming PC since about 2006 (that was the last time I could play new games say). I've been meaning to build a new rig for a while and with DA coming out I thought it would be the perfect time. This is what I got anyway...

Intel core i5 750

Radeon 5870

4gGB RAM

Win7

I won't "upgrade" my computer, because there is really no point for me atm, I've pushed my motherboard as far as she'll go, then a little farther.

Running AMD 64 Athlon dual core at 3.6ghz

Nvidia 9600gt SLI (x2)

8gb ddr2 ram.

I'll do a total rebuild in the next...year probably

Mavestino, I'd never buy a 7900gs, I'm sure there is something better that you can get for close to the same price

7900 is like three years old now, most places won't even sell them anymore. While it would probably run DA pretty well it's not worth buying one now (IMO). You can get something like a Radeon 4870 or 4850 for reasonably cheap. That would be a better investment (even those are starting to get old though). If you can afford it consider a 5870.

For your other question... the graphics card will affect what the quality of graphics is like etc. (whether you can have it on high,medium/whatever) the processor will be pretty important and a potential bottleneck in things like big battles and so on.

GPU = Graphics processing unit and is the primary factor of how well your computer will manage graphics. I would never pick up a 7900gs. However, if you're looking at upgrading your video card the first thing you need to do is get some info on your power supply. Whats the maximum wattage, what is the max amp on the 12 volt rails.

I picked up a q9550 to drop into my old motherboard. So much faster than the e6400 (one of the original launch c2d chips). I'll keep my 9800gx2 and likely skip this generation of CPUs and GPUs.
