Bioware Developers - Take a Lesson...

Now do note this didn't take away any difficulty with the enemies mind you; I still had di*k faces bum rushing me constantly and forcing me to tactically exaust myself to keep from being flaked constantly. The only problem I had was that I couldn't direct the A.I. where to go - but they seemed to be fine on their own so it was just me being picky.
To the point - Mass Effect has suffered for me in the squad department. The A.I. in ME1 was terrible but excuseable since the enemy A.I. wasn't all that challenging either (especially when you have infinte rounds to crank out at them). However in Mass Effect 2 I felt like I didn't even have a squad. Heres why...
- They always CROUCHED in cover instead of ENGAGING in TAKING COVER. Meaning they would crouch behind the cover or near it and never fire a single shot nor would they lean in and out of cover. It was really bad and it was a game design flaw.
- They died almost as soon as the action started. I would frequently find them running straight into enemy fire with no real logic.
- Rarely did they listen to my commands and move to where I put the squad thing. They would shout ""CAN'T GET THERE!"" every five seconds which just grinded my friggen gears.
Over all I felt like I was playing baby sitter with the A.I. during ME1 and ME2. This is one problem (out of many) that will cause me to honestly not buy Mass Effect 3. I'm not trolling nor am I "raging" but this is an honest problem I found with the two games that Bioware "claimed" to have solved but didn't. I don't enjoy having a squad that doesn't do anything I ask and doesn't do sh*t in terms of usefullness.
Thoughts?

Did you even read past the first sentence? He makes a very valid point. The squad AI (and enemy) in Gears 3 was brilliant, almost perfect. I also think Bioware could learn this.meiwow2 wrote...

So what? ME3 is not a fully blown action game. ME has it where it counts. I don't give a damn about the action, do you understand? action in ME is just a means to an end, it's not the main focus of the game.Warden130 wrote...

It's an action RPG, it has no excuse not to have decent working squad AI.

I'm not trying to start an arguement, but the combat in Mass Effect is still a very important part of the game, although not as important as it was in Gears. I am just saying that the squad AI could do with an imporvement and this is something that Gears 3 did very well.meiwow2 wrote...

Action in ME is just a mean to an end? Well duck that... I was under the impression that 80% Mass Effect 2 was bad implemented shooting, thank good you cleared my eyes.
Bless you, now I know that the core ducking mechanic of the game is just a mean to an end.

So you want the ai in a halfbreed rpg game as huge as mass effect to be absolutely perfect like in gears of war (assuming it's perfect for gow) where all the have to worry about is the action?Ferris95 wrote...

That's my point, it's not gonna happen.. how's that realistic?
Besides most of us don't play mass effect because we care about how life like or perfect the ai of our partners is. Is good enough.
People are selfish as hell, don't compare gow with ME period.

2.) If I'm reading a book I want it to have an excellent story / plot, development, characters, and generally I want it to flow very well. If I'm playing an RPG I at least want to "PLAY" the game.
I enjoy challenge but when you play ME2 on Insanity its a pain in the ass having tons of bum-rushing enemies, no ammo, and your two team-mates randomly died or are "ducking" behind cover. I love the story which is why I'll defend ME1 and 2 to death but I cannot stand the broken gameplay which makes up parts of the game. Solo it would be fine, cooperative play with two or three players would be fine (I actually have a wonderful idea to make it work), but solo play with two handicapped A.I. team-mates is NOT fine!
Mass Effect isn't Gears of War but there's no reason Bioware can't play Gears 3 and try to recover some of their broken gameplay! I mean if people are going to **** and whine non stop about ""Tali not giving my FemShep a Taco Touchdown"" or ""I WANNA SUX AWN GURRUS'S DIX"" - then why can't I make a valid suggestion to help bring Mass Effect 3 a little higher up?

Your ignorance is insulting.meiwow2 wrote...
The point here is the only reason the ai in an action game might be perfect is because it's all they have to worry about so if you're gonna compare it to something compare it to an action game not an rpg/action.

Whaddaya mean like AI has to worry about how best to show their emotions? What else does an AI need to do besides mainatining the action?

When it comes to allies using cover my impression is the opposite of yours. They are leaning out too much and often die in positions where they could just cover and regen. It could be that they are unaware you can't stick your head out without shields on insanity. If your experience is the opposite perhaps your allies are equipped with close ranged weapons and you positioned them at medium/long range. They won't try to hit unless the enemies are at suitable range (which is closer than Shepard needs to be with the same weapon).

Someone mentioned another game! Let's get hysterical and completely miss the point!
Don't you just love the Bioware forums now?
- Gay/Bisexual nuts spamming each thread and demanding immunity from bans.
- Religious/Cerberus nuts harrasing people on personal levels and starting cults.
- Ignorant and Bias kids who become keyboard heros when Gears of War is spoken of.
- Power Flamers who flood the "Character" category.
I'm not trying to troll or act like an ass or even suggest Mass Effect is like Gears in anyway; but I'm saying it cannot hurt to make the A.I. a little more "Supportive" in ME3. I mean if you're going to alter the "lore" and make Tali want to Taco Touchdown on a FemSheps face; then you can easily fix the A.I. to make them more supportive and less retarded.
