I've been playing DA:O since launch on 360, but I just got a new laptop and was hoping it would be able to run the game. systemrequirementslab.com says I fail to meet the minimum requirements. However, I'm not sure about this. It seems that website does not recognize my video card in their database. I meet all the requirements other than video card by a sizeable margin. My video card is Intel® HD Graphics Family. There is a dropdown list from the video card section about the individual requirements that a video card encompasses, which I meet all of. However, there doesn't seem to be a demo and I'm hesitant to drop 29.99 on the ultimate edition without some kind of confirmation that this game will work. If it helps, I just bought Alpha Protocol from the Steam sale, which the website also said I couldn't run, and aside from the general sloppiness of Alpha Protocol it seems to work fine. Thanks in advance.
Can I run this?

Sorry, you can only "play at" running the game with any chipset graphics by Intel.
DAO requires a REAL graphics card from a real 3D gaming graphics company, which Intel most certainly is not. You can force such a bad video device to run way over its head and accept the very poor performance, but over time, the odds are not in your favor that the machine will survive that level of mistreatment. It will eventually fail to perform even at the bad level it was originally capable of, and continue to deteriorate further.
Had you consulted the forum's Archives, there already is a message thread for your subject.

I went ahead and brought that one (older message thread) to the top. Games so totally unalike offer no mutual grounds for comparison.casedawgz wrote...
What's throwing me is that I've been running Alpha Protocol on nearly max settings without issue.
