My hard drive failed out of the blue last week.  Luckily, I had back ups.  However, despite the fact that I can SEE my files from my old games before the crash, I can't access them through the game to continue playing or to use with DA2. (And I'm gonna have this problem with DA2 when I get to reinstalling it, I'm sure. I just want to figure out DAO and then try for DA2.)

Could someone please tell me how to talk my computer into accessing these files for DAO? The file path I'm attempting to use now is C:/Users/[my name for computer]/My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age. Am I doing something wrong?

Also, I tried starting a new game to see if that would jump start it. I saved that new game, closed out, and restarted DAO. It still could only find the new game, despite the new game being in the same directory as the old ones.  Does that help?

My system is Windows 7.  Thank you!

Thank you for responding, but they are in the character folder. Everything is in its proper folders. The computer even saves to the same folder(s) the old games are in, it just won't acknowledge the old games. Can anyone help? Please?

are you copying the saves folder or the entire DA folder??

I have always found that you have to copy the entire DA folder over and not just the saves.

You can simply move the saves over, but the game may not see saves if they were made using a higher patch number than you currently have installed (i.e. If you made the saves with the game patched to 1.4 but have not yet patched the current game, it may not see the saves. Missing mods may also cause problems.
