Yes, the rogues and a sarcastic Hawke do add much humor to the game. I never go anywhere without Varric.

Take her when you go after the blood mage in the Blooming Rose. But remember to kill her as soon as you break free from her spell. Then loot the room and find out where the blood mages are hiding.
