Yep. Bioware automatically gathers data from the players which is much, much more complex than these sorts of polls. 

Still, it's interesting - I'm surprised at some of the answers, like how many forum people use femShep.

I'm actualy not, to be honest.  femshep is a pretty popular choice among people who often play more then once, prefer custom shepards to default (and maybe I'm biased, but its much MUCH easier to create a pleasant looking femshep then maleshep).  I was actualy originaly surprised by bioware's numbers about femshep vs maleshep players since everything from tribute to strategy videos on youtube seems to feature femshep more often then maleshep. 

still some of the answers WERE pretty surprising.  I honestly expected more people to have romanced Liara and Thane and Tali, especialy.  I also thought there would have been more renegade players, but I guess they were too renegade to take the poll? :innocent:

Regarding the "missing" Renegades:

(1) I think that apart from the Council choice, the most interesting Renegade choices were not present in the poll. I think there's a greater percentage of people who, say, destroy the Heretics or keep the Collector base (hmm...wasn't that in the poll? I don't recall). Some ME1 situations in particular. i.e. the Feros colonists and Shiala and killing Wrex, are heavily weighted in favor of the Paragon option.

(2) Regarding the Council choice, I think that most people find it more interesting to keep them alive regardless of whether they play Renegade-ish or not. For myself, I know that I've rationalized keeping the Council alive with my main Shepard just to get the airquotes in ME2 and hopefully be able to air-quote back at the Turian councillor in ME3.

(3) I think there is a signifant difference between the number of people who defend Renegade choices as viable options, using them in one or more of their several playthroughs, and those who use the Renegade options for most decisions with their main Shepards.

Heh, those Anderson/Udina votes. Man. A lot of people are going to rage when they see that Udina's the Councilor in 3 regardless. Here's hoping for a world-class conversation on the matter with Anderson, at least.

None of the results especially surprise me, although the percentage differences with some of them are a bit stunning. I firmly expected Paragons to beat out Renegades by a hefty margin, for example, but that's a very big one.

Also, more people opted not to romance than romanced either Ash or Kaidan? That is a tad surprising to me, actually, even if on my first playthrough I was in the "no one" camp as well.

I was kinda surprised to see this stats almost even, especially since a lot of guys I know don't like Kaidan that much. It's even more surprising when reading next numbers:

Romances ME1,
Liara : 205(31.78%)
Non : 180(27.90%)
Ashley : 137(21.24%)
Kaidan : 123(19.07%)

Ashley & Kaidan have an equal chance to get romanced. So either some guys tend to virmire a romanced Kaidan - or all those non-romancing guys to it.

Also I wonder why so many ppl refuse to have a romance in ME. A guess? Could be 'cause of ME2, those players don't want to break up an existing relationship for Miranda, Tali & co - so they don't want to romance someone in ME.

Just look at the top three. Wrex, Mordin & Legion. If Wrex was Wrexable, I'm sure he'd be around the 3.5 mark.

As a seasonal contest analyst over on GameFAQs, I tend to (try to) go the extra mile in picking apart "votals" whenever I see them. Must be how tired I am but this still didn't dawn on me. Thanks for bringing it up; you're almost certainly correct. Good observation.

For my two cents, my original file saw me not romance anyone because neither Liara nor Ashley interested either me or the Shepard I was trying to "write" while playing.

Soon thereafter I realized I quite enjoyed Ashley's character and romanced her during the following file, however. And eventually I had a file for romancing everyone and wound up loving all three characters.

 Voted. Nice to see dear Liara do so well, judging by the high percentage of people who romanced her in ME1 and didn't romance anyone in ME2. It shows that many of us were very attached to the ME1 romances  (though I know some people who didn't romance anyone in ME1 or ME2, it'd have been interesting to have that statistic separate and see the %)
Also, happy to see my two other favorites, Legion and Garrus did so well in overall like %

Staying faithful to any ME-romance is quite "paragonish". You need either a mean streak or a clear break up to start another romance with an ME2-character. Since there was no "clear break up", neither from Ash/Kaidan nor Liara, any new romance is cheating on your old LI.

These results show that the majority of people playing ME2 have class. IT's like totally what I voted for!

Though I was torn between Liara/Miranda for ME2. I keep 2 saves for each of them but to this day I can't say which one will be my "canon."

Actually, they are just listed in that order.

Nothing very surprising in the survey, beyond perhaps the number of players on the board who play femshep and the low percentage of Renegade players voting in the survey.

The way the squad member portion of the survey was constructed favors bromance/non-threatening characters for high marks. A "Who's your favorite?" type of approach would have doubtless shuffled the results quite a bit.
