I posted this originally in the Mass Effect 3 forum by mistake.

I'm sure this topic has been hashed to death, but with Arrival being the
last DLC , will we see a DLC bundle package, or a ME2 GOTY edition?

Being
a skinflint like myself, I have played none of the DLC, but have
watched them all on YouTube. I would love to play them, but can't see
shelling out $50-60 bucks to play a few extra missions.

With
Arrival released in March 2011 and ME3 set to release March 2012, any
rumors as to if BW is going to do a bundle for, say, the holiday season?
Pretty please with eezo on top...

This is a good idea. I know a few people who will only buy DLCs on disc.  The ME2 DLCs are very high quality, but they're each kind of short individually. Bundling them together into an 'expansion pack' or 'extended edition' would make them much more appealing.

too late man, ME3's only a few months away now, they won't re-release ME2.

Says who? I doubt it would happen, but doesn't the release of ME3 make ME2 more appealing? No matter how much effort Bioware puts into making ME3 'new player friendly', it still won't compare to playing all three games.  People interested in ME3 will want to buy the first two. Gamestop already cruelly profits off of this; they raised the price of Oblivion because Skyrim is coming out soon.

Anyway, as unlikely as that is, it's still possible at some point in the future they might do a trilogy re-release or something. That wouldn't be for a long time, of course.

the projected profits even if ME3 is an incredible success will still not justify a retail re-release. maybe, just maybe they'll do some sort of online special through Origin that includes the DLC but more likely they'll just do a bundle special with ME1/2/3, or special individual prices.

I definitely think a remastered version of ME1 might be in order, if they release a bundle thing. Like what Halo is doing for the Anniversary edition.

Who knows, 4 years from now would be a decade of Mass Effect. They might do a remastered (hopefully just graphically) version of all 3 games and release a huge bundle, all games and all DLC in one huge, ridiculously-sized package.

Hell, I'd buy it. I'm a Mass Effect fanboy. Even if I had all 3 games originally I would still want the bundle to save as a collectible.

ME1 had a ton of technical issues like the texture loading, game-breaking save bugs, and physics.  I loved Mass Effect, but eventually it's going to need a remastered edition. Seeing a remastered trilogy with all three games on ME3's engine (or just improved versions of their respective engines) at some point in the future would be glorious.  The comparison that immediately came to my mind was Metroid Prime Trilogy, but that might not be the best example.

Exactly, bug fixes, improving the texture loading, and tweaking the physics a little bit.

Though, I did enjoy VERY much sending people into orbit...

Run right up to someone, have Liara hit them with a maxed out Lift, then stand underneath them and blast them with a High Explosive Shotgun... Do it again with MY maxed lift next, and by the time my shotgun's cooled down again, Liara's Lift can be used.

Such joy, playing with the physics in that game. I broke it so many times.

I have already purchased all of the main DLC (Overlord, LOtSB, etc), but I think an all-in-one bundle would be great. A GOTY bundle would be the best case scenario (I didn't haveXBox Live for a long time, so DLC was impossible for me to obtain.

On a slightly random note, are they ever going to tone down the price for Pinnacle Station? It seems ridiculousy overpriced compared to the content in it...

Oh man. I have so many bad memories of Pinnacle Station.  I agree it should be priced down.  The ending scenario was really nice for Mass Effect fans, but the horribly underdesigned challenges are not worth suffering through for that price.

Agreed. I hate that mission though I've played it twice and that's enough though the final scenerio is fun and challangeing.

One of the reasons why I didn't buy any DLC for Dragon Age: Origins was that they were really overpriced. USD$1 should last 2 hours, using their own game as a benchmark (bought it for USD$50, lasted me over 100 hours).

Now I am really conflicted about ME2 because it is a great game, but it only lasted 47 hours for a game that costs USD$50 on steam! Now USD$1 is barely 1 hour of gameplay. The quality of the game is great, but does the quality really justify the low duration of gameplay?

I would still like to buy a bundled version because some of the things you do in the DLCs will carry over to ME3. But my conscience doesn't allow me to buy such overpriced DLCs out of principle.

If anything, there's no better time to re-relase ME2 or have DLC bundle for Holidays than now. That's exactly what EA did with DAO before DA2 premiere and DAO Ultimate Edition was a hit.

I own (or have pre-ordered) all things Mass Effect (CE, DLC etc, I'm not including figs and such here) and I love the idea of a graphically remastered set.  Even tho it would be like buying a second copy of stuff I already have I'd pick it up if they released such a thing.

As to the OP, I doubt we'll see disks for DLC as that doesn't seem to be the way EA is handeling things of late however some bundles may happen and I  think they're a good idea.  DA2 has a few for things like the weapon packs but taking it a step further seems reasonable to me.  Regardless of bundle tho, even if you skip all other DLC I highly recomend Lair of the Shadowbroker.  It is my favorite DLC by far for it's addtions in both story and game mechanics.  And if the rumors are true that some of the resources you've gathered will be carried over when you import to ME3 then it's all the more valuable to pick up (however they are just rumors so it may not be true).

Personal break down of DLC values (for what it's worth)
  • Lair (reasons above)
  • Arrival (important plot elements, tho sounds like you found those on youtube already)
  • Stolen Memory (fun loyalty mission, decent new party member, and the new guys are very valuable to classes with a limited wepon selection)
  • Price of Revenge (party member, more upgrade mods, some fun early game dioluge during the Archangle mission.  Z is also tough so helps your party members survive the "Last Stand" segment)
  • Overlord (interesting story)
  • Firewalker (Fun for a change of pace, also more missions = more xp ;)  )
  • All gear DLC  (gear is nice and customization is fun but more weps/armor < more game play)
  • Alt Apperance packs (some of the looks are pretty fun, and a change of pace is nice after a few playthroughs but they're the least compelling buy I'd say)
Hope some of that is useful :)

The DLC for ME1 wasn't even made entirely by BioWare. I heard Pinnacle Station was, at least.

Man, that DLC broke my game and screwed up one of my game saves SO bad. If you pause the very instant you enter the simulator, and you still have the option to save, DO NOT DO IT. Trust me. Some weapons and armor will vanish from your squadmates (specifically the ones with you at the time of the save), and if you try to re-equip it, the game will freeze, sorta. Animations for the pause screen, and the music, will keep going, but the game controls are dead.

I would consider buying the bundled DLC NOW, while my interest in the game is still high.

Yup resurrecting this thread. Any Bioware devs out there? Mass Effect 3 is a year old already. A Mass Effect 2 DLC bundle seems perfectly appropriate to me. Any plans for that?

Ridiculous isn't it Hameth? Bundle and reduce, that's my motto.
