Hi, I just got into the NWN2 thing and set up a dedicated server for myself and a friend to play on. All is working fine except that when on the server, a rogue player character will not respond to clicking on a desk or cabinet by walking up to it, and they will not use the Disable Device skill on it. They will walk up to an unlocked chest and open it, but not an unlocked desk or cabinet, and Disable Device does nothing when applied to a locked cabinet. This happens both with and without the Behavior set to Automatically Open Locks.

I noticed this during my and my friend's first playthrough on the OC when we were in Tarmas' house and I tried to use Disable Device on the cabinet. We haven't gotten farther, so I don't know if the problem extends to NPC AI as well - I will check Neeshka when we can, but that will be a few game hours from now.

Testing:
I have tested this behavior on the original campaign using the Standalone Server Creator downloaded from Obsidian's support page. I started with with NWN2 OC - v1.23, and upgraded to a new install of NWN/MOTB/SoZ v1.23. In both cases, I created the dedicated server from the same install, and the behavior is present on both.

I tried using TonyK's improved AI, but the server doesn't seem to enforce it even when "disable client override directory" is checked. So I dunno if the server is working or not in that regard. Using it on the client side didn't seem to help either though.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Z

Update, I've already put in enough time troubleshooting undocumented blarg, so nm this post. Dedicated server is now gone, I'll just forward ports to my machine when my friends want to play.

Dedicated server creator has known bugs, copy all the resources over in the data folder and a few other things. It was made prior to SOZ and has no idea what SOZ has. If you google it, it will list what is not included.

You can just install NWN2 on the other machine, running the server does not require having a serial number.

Hi, thanks for the response and sorry for the late reply - took me awhile to find my way back to this post. That explains the problems with the server creator, thanks!

About running the game in server mode, it does ask you to enter the serial when you do the installs., and I've never tried skipping them. Can you confirm that for me? I can skip the serials and the game will update and run fine in server mode?

Thanks for any help!
