Except it's not the same at all. AY aren't contagious! They can't reproduce.

Your point still sucks. A person with say leprosy (or something like that) cannot control whether or not the infect people. Even with the best intentions they are a threat to themselves and everyone around them hence the need to be quarantines. Ardat Yakshis kill/infect with sex. There is a distinct trigger that has to be activated for them to be a danger to others and they can control that trigger completely. Locking up Ardat Yakshi makes as much sense as locking up people with 20/20 vision because they might become snipers and might snipe people.Anacronian Stryx wrote...

The AY are secluded because they are a threat to society and it's inhabitants just like somebody with a contagious disease would be a threat.

The problem is not similar at all. Anders blew up the Chantry to start a revolution to save all of his mage compatriots. Morinth became a serial killer to save her own hide and because of the power she got from it. It isn't a little bit more altruistic, more like completely altruistic to completely selfish. Anders was willing to die for his cause. Morinth is trying to avoid dying and keep on living as a hedonist. Also as I said, the targets are completely different. Anders is attacking the people who are hurting the mages. Morinth just kills anyone she can seduce. There really is no comparison.D.Kain wrote...

No not really. It think that Anders wouldn't act the same if he wasn't a mage himself, but yeah maybe he is a little more altruistic. The problem is similar though.
