Is the dragon age series breaks the ground in player relationship towards NPCs?
Do you guys really feel connected with your chosen romantic partner
personally? Or it's still more like the admiring feelings as we see the
protagonists and their girls in movies and other RPGs?
Real emotional connection with your romantic partner?

Hmm honestly I never really got into the romances. They seemed a bit naff to me. I'm not a fan of how they were written. But that's just my personal opinion, I know loads of people really liked it.

I never got into it because I really don't like Leliana or Morrigan. I wish that there was a Merril or Isabella type personality in DA:O, their personalities are much more interesting.

I did really get into it, the only reason I have become a gamer is the relationships and the strategic fighting. DA2 just doesn't allow the more; I am connected and caring, but the rogue fighting is fantastic. Besides, in DAO, when Alistair says (in that incredible voice) "Your wish is my command" that is when I really fell for it. Only wish some guys would say that in my real life.

I think may be it's because DA:O is such an emotional game. In all my years of playing video games, I had NEVER EVER cried over one until I played this.

Me too - first run thru I had half the group abandon me - I was shattered... really couldnt sleep or anything. This was my first true RPG - I am totally hooked.
I play MMOs mainly and can play with real ppl/friends but this is better by far - scripts/storys/options can always use improvement.
I really REALLY hope BIOWARE do another - closer to the DAO style. I have sampled pretty much everything out there and this is my style of gaming. I just hope Im not in the minority.
In answer to OP - yes Zevran is my partner now always - and I do feel a kind of connection. I tried dating Alistair as a Noble but just couldnt stand looking at him standing over there... all alone...pretending to catch bugs in the dirt... admiring his nails through his gloves with his XRAY vision .... pretending not to care
*chuckles*

I too love this gaming style and hope we are not in the minority also. However I fear we will never see a game with the same depth and emotion as this again. It is a one of a kind (For me at least)Tryynity wrote...
