It is true that this shield exists? coz I saw some forums talking about this and you have to kill Sophia like a bunch of times to get her shield.

I have gone through the game 3 complete times and working on number 4 now but i have yet to see the shield. I have also heard there are differences in gear avaliable from version to version xbox/ps3/pc so having heard the same rumors, playing on the pc i have yet to get this item to drop, or give up its secret location. Anyone?

Ok, after numerous tries, I got the shield. 1st I set the difficulties to Nightmare, and just keep killing Sophia to get the shield. The shield's real good, good stats, can't miss.

So it is a random drop thing that maybe effectied by the skill level interesting, i might try that out on a few boss fights to see if there is indeed better loot drops from the higher skill level.

Thanks

So you did nothing other than keep reloading and killing her?

Ugh, I hate random drops like this... I had no idea that they were in play otherwise I would have made a point of reloading until I get them. Ganxkang can also apparently drop the Fade Wall, which is a super upgraded version of Eamon's Shield and would have been an excellent compliment to my AW play-through. But I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I don't know about Sophia's shield, but the Fade Wall is pretty awesome:

Type: Shield (Heavy)

Material: Silverite (Tier 6)

Strength Modifier: 1.00

Fatigue: 6.00%

Defense: 6.00

Missile Deflection: 9.00

Installation: Base Installation

+3 Defense

+20% to Healing Effects Received

+1 Stamina Regeneration in Combat

+25 Stamina

Requires: 38 Strength

well, the shield actually has the same stats and discription as the Duncan's shield with the griffon emblem attatched on it.

Just raise the difficulty to nightmare and keep killing her and you'll eventually get it

Yes, I remember getting that when killing Gaxkang (Kangaxx *snicker*). I had no idea it was a random drop. :(

Heck, I got starmetal in my first random encounter in my first playthrough, and have yet to encounter it again. :(

I actually got it for my first random encounter on my second playthrough. After having done just the Circle and Redcliffe, it feels ridiculous to already be running around with the best sword in the game. But I guess that's the future with DLC like these.

Anyway, started looking for confirmation that Sophia can indeed drop a Warden shield, and found this on the wiki: http://dragonage.wik...ensetsophia.jpg

After having killed her 10 times now after loading an old save just to get it, still no dice. :(

Still trying. Godammit. Whomever came up with the retarded idea of incorporating random distribution of unique items in a Bioware RPG should be shot for graduating from the Blizzard University of Loot Distribution.

I have only ever gotten this encounter by running on one of the roads down in the plains. It's pretty easy to force it in less than 10 minutes by running between Flemeth's Hut and Denerim.  Although I have never seen it befor completeling Soldier's Peak, which I had always assumed was a requirement anyway.

You don't need to raise the difficulty, it dropped on normal for me.
It's simply a random drop, just keep killing her.

It's not. I got it when travelling from Lothering and the Circle. :)

I'm starting to have doubts in it being a random drop. In the last 2 hours I've killed her easily over 50-60 times (since the post before my last one, I've resorted to runscript killallhostiles) and I still haven't gotten the shield.

It can't be a randomized loot drop as only shields are affected and I've got the shields on differing difficulties. I've started a thread on this as I'm pretty certain it's a bug.

Wish I'd not missed this, oh well, not restarting again just for the shield.

I killed her a bunch of times as well.

It's not called the "Warden Commander Shield", I believe in my inventory it was just called "Heavy Metal Shield" or some such, but was clearly the one she was using, with the griffon symbol. Also to my knowledge it's not a random drop, I've got it every time I've killed her.
