Maze scroll in BG1

I'm playing BG1 with Tutu and am currently sitting with a Maze scroll in my inventory. It's a level 8 scroll apparently. I *think* I got it from the Lamalha meet after the mines. Have entered chapter 4 now and have had it for quite some time.
Have I come across a weird bug here or is it actually possible for such high-level scrolls to be dropped in BG1?
Did a search, and noticed it's possible to get it via a cheat code. But I've never typed any cheat codes, nor enabled the console (seems like you need to do that to enable such codes).
Naturally I can't use it for half an eternity as my mages have just gotten access to level 3 spells. However, if I copy it to my main character's spell book and import this character to BG2, will it have the maze spell ready in his book?

I don't use Tutu, but I presume you will have the spell available if you import the character - certainly you keep spells learnt in BG1 using BGT.

Of course you can use the scroll - once.

Are there a lot of traps in BG2 btw? This is the part of the game I really can't stand. Inching around hoping to discover traps before they pop underneath our feet is not my idea of fun.

If you use BGT then your companions will have the same skills and abilities as in BG1. You could also use shadowkeeper to change the BG2 versions to match those in BG1 if you want.Pangaea wrote...
Will learn the spell and see if it appears in BG2 when I get there. I'm multiclassed so will take a lot of time to get to level 8, but suppose there isn't any point in letting a full-time mage learn it either as their stats et al won't be imported to BG2 anyway.

Still have an awful much left to play on BG1 before I can start on BG2 though. About to enter the 2nd mines, so have from there on and in left, plus the expansion pack (which I have never played before).

They both have their advantages. I wouldn't really call either of the two better than the other, though very likely everybody has got his personal preference.Pangaea wrote...
I'm using Tutu as I heard that was better.
Minsc didn't put any points in dualwielding. That's what every ranger gets automatically. Minsc simply didn't care about the two points because he prefers bigger swords (like that other brawny, tattooed, bald warrior dude).Dual wielding and two-handed sword is such an odd combo.
That's a standard auto pause option in the BG2 engine (and so also available in BGT or Tutu).Imoen has 100 (or more) in trapfinding now and I'm autopausing on found traps. Would therefore be great if the game autostopped on found traps
Of course you do know that with Find Traps, Set Traps and Open Locks, everything above 100 is a waste (unless you're going to use Simulacrae)?

I better stop putting points into it then
Both trapfinding and lockpicking are on exactly 100 right now.
I've not got the foggiest idea what Simulacrae is so will probably not be doing that
The autopause works fine when Imoen discovers traps in time, but that doesn't work unless I''m inching forward. And even then it doesn't work every time (walked across a web trap in Cloakwood).
Had a look and there is a mod that removed all traps and locks, but that's not really ideal. Would be nice if I was walking with Imoen at the front and there was a trap, the game would automatically pause before she walked over it. Too often i've been lucky and she has stopped virtually on top of a trap, and before I have ordered her another couple steps forward the trap has popped up red and the game autopauses. Other times she has walked right over it, despite me being very careful with not moving far ahead, and even waiting a few seconds between clicks as I suspect a round has to end before a trap can pop up. That is what annoys me, as it means progress is veeeeery slow. Add in retarded path finding when people bump into each other and profanities exit my mouth

A Simulacrum is a spell to copy your character. The summoned version is at 60% of the level of the other, and has the thief skills that the game calculates as appropiate for that level.Pangaea wrote...

Using a simulacrum for trap setting may be a good idea if you like setting traps, because your main character doesn't lose any traps this way (just like having your simulacrum cast spells instead of the real character will save your spells/scrolls/wands).
Autopause usually works fine for me though I suspect there are some traps in the game (mostly on containers) that do not trigger the pause.
Anyway, like most people here, I mostly rely on my knowledge of the traps. There are very few in the entire game that I don't remember. You can move a lot faster through dungeons when you only need to search for traps where there actually are traps.

Knowing where they are certainly helps. Suppose most people here have played through BG1 and 2 so often disabling traps is almost done in blindness. I'm still fairly new to the game, have not played most of them (BG1 expansion and whole of BG2) so my knowledge is rather limited. That ofc means I have no idea if there are traps or not in this or that screen.
The result of that is that I save a LOT when playing, and moving forward is veeery slow. Not my idea of fun really, and even though I'm careful we tend to walk over traps here and there (and that's in BG1 where I roughly know where they are).
