I was just wondering if anyone here has managed or knows of somebody who may have loaded the series onto a Tablet computer?

I asked this about a year ago. At the time responces were:

a) Its too difficult unles a windows tablet comes out.

B) How would you play it on a touch screen.

Well my answers are:

a) Windows is now out on modern tablet devices. (although it was before years ago, but not quite the same as the new tablets.). Allthough I must admit Im not too sure how it plays with older software.

B) Easy way is to use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Hard way would be to code in some new UI functions to allow the BG series to work in a touch screen enviroment.

If anyone has proven solutions for making this work I would love to hear them.

Utimately I would like to see it ported onto a windows phone, but I'll think baby steps and go for the tablet first. When it comes to screen size my easy answer is pico projector, hard answer is more UI changes (zoom)

Well It's been half a week, and no reply's.

So let me ask a slightly different question: Does anyone want to see the BG series ported over to tablet devices, regardless of the operating system?

Well I guess that settels that.

Yes GemRB rev 0.6 or better on a mid- high end tablet (say Gallaxy or ipad) seems to work quite well.

As noted online a Blue Tooth mouse is highly recommended, but needed. Also worked on some older (2008) phones abit slower. HD mods we not tested, but may also be compatable and fit some sceen sizes better.

I've been playing BG1 on my Galaxy S 2 all week (4.3'' android phone). It's a bit buggy, but surprisingly easy to set up and still a lot of fun.

GemRB can be run on tablets using the touchscreen, and non-Windows systems. It's great; I kind of want to run it next just so I can play a Sorcerer/Monk but that needs a bit of work still.

GemRB is not really there yet, I don't think, but it's still pretty amazing how far those guys have come with it. It's starting to gain a bit of publicity now that it's actually playable, too (and as tablets and things become more common, and people want something decent to play on them besides Fruit Ninja once they've completed Plants vs Zombies twice).
