Shoot me, but I did not play ME1. I had tried to get my hands on a copy, yet I failed. Probably since I do not prefer heading backwords from ME2 to ME1, or because I am extremely lazy. Hah, rather I not  go and wikipeia her. I think its best to get it from players themselves, their point of views to be interesting the most. Can anyone sum up her character?

I think you should check the wikia. There are many opinions on Ashley. Not all of them objective. This thread will degrade into a flame war in no time.

Gunnery Chief Ashley Willams,
in a nutshell, she's snarky, xenophobic, likes to antagonize the other squad mates. She has a penchant for poetry, has strong family ties, and has the habit to ramble about it every chance she gets.
She's a hardcore marine, so it's funny when she has the occasional moment of humility, but she'll NEVER fess up to it.

Go read the Wikia because you are not never going to get an unbiased option that gives the right and correct information from the BSN forum.

She's an Alliance soldier that joined your party very early in the game. She was a love interest for M!Shep, and there was a point where either she or Kaidan could die. If you play ME2 without importing from ME1, the game auto-selects who survived based on the opposite of Shepard's gender.

I found Ash to be one of the most well-written/acted and realistic characters in ME1. However, because she's incredibly blunt and doesn't hesitate to state her opinion (which often doesn't mesh well with the player's), and has a few other quirks (like spontaneous poetry recitals), she can be hard to get along with. However, she's a badass by virtue of being a complete tank in combat, plus some serious heart, soul, and snark in her dialogue. She's one of my favorite squadmates now, but it took me four playthroughs to get to that point. I probably just ignored her at first because, meh, not a cool alien.

Go play ME1.

Ashley is one of only three Mass Effect women who knows how to have sex while naked. The other two are Liara and female Shepard.

Can't confirm that. With her biotic brain scramble ability, any number of unpleasant things could have been going on in that bubble.

Do a free-cam during that scene.

From what it looks like, without the fancy camera angles, it looks like she gave Shep ******....but they were naked models I'm sure.

Ashley Madeline Williams was a squadmate and potential LI in ME1.  She was the sole survivor of her unit in the geth attack on Eden Prime.  Anderson has her assigned to the Normandy afterwards.

Ash's grandfather was General Williams, commander of the garrison on Shanxi during the First Contact War.  Although the Williams family served in the military since the founding of the Alliance, when he was forced to surrender the garrison, it left a stain on the Williams' reputation that effectively blacklisted the entire family.  As a result, she was stuck on garrison duty on an agricultural colony when she could have been serving in the fleet.  As a consequence, she also hadn't worked with aliens much prior to ME1

Ash's personality is strong and blunt.  And sometimes snarky.  She distrusts politicans and corporate types and prefers to deal with matters directly.  Due at least in part to her family's treatment during and after the war, she is also distrustful of aliens.  She doesn't particularly fear or hate them, but she believes that they do not necessailly have humanity's best intereests at heart.  If push came to shove, she thinks they would abandon humanity to save themselves.  She believes humanity needs to rely on themselves because, while she doesn't object to allies "I don't think we should count on them staying allies".

Contrary to how some describe her, she isn't a xenophobe.  She's completely willing to work with aliens (you have the option at one point to let her help coordinate a strike with your squad and a unit of STG.  She actually volunteers for this), and calls the Terra Firma party a bunch of extremist xenophobes.

Ashley is also religious, though her denomination is never revealed.  She prays and believes in God, but that's as far as it's described.  For some reason, people think this makes her a zealot

At one point on Virmire, you have to make a choice to rescue her or another squadmate, Kaidan Alenko.  The one who stays behind dies in a nuclear fireball ("gets Virmired") and basically dies a hero.  If Ash is saved, she feels guilty over Shepard choosing to save her over Kaidan.

Ash has a love of poetry, gained from her father.  At a couple of points in the game especially if you romance her, she recites lines.  She also likes long walks on the beach "blasting bad guys with my boomstick"  Yes that'a line in the game.

Ashley belives in an intervening god. If Shepard says he survived Akuze due to personal perseverance she objects and says she belives Shepard was chosen by God to survive. I find this somewhat disturbing.
