1. James Vega VA
2. Femshep promotional material
3. ME movie related stuff
4. Final squad roster for ME3

If MP is announced (which it'll never be) I'll have my popcorn ready for the MP moaning forums

Odd that they would make a "big announcement" to a press only event and then embargo it for several days or a week...

If it was something uncontroversial like revealing Vega's VA, and I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's Charlie Sheen FWIW, they could do it in front of a convention audience.

Given that they elected to only give this announcement to the press, I'd bet it is not going to be a well received bit of news by the fans.

Imagine Casey Hudson announcing multiplayer at a convention of fans!

They would have to call a SWAT team to extract him from the melee.

Yes the Devs have repeatedly said "There will be no multiplyer in Mass Effect 3" over and over, they say "no multiplayer, period" so much I'm getting sick of it.

Just because it's made there doesn't mean it necessarily runs all it's servers out of there.  More than likely they will have a few different server farms in different places that they will need multiplayer and online specialized people to maintain and update those servers.  It doesn't necessarily mean it has to be for every game they are making.  you have to spread those online loads out over several different locations to make them work propperly in a realistic fashion when we are talking about highly anticipated that are likely to get a vast number of players from the get go... such as a star wars title...

Edit My Vote personally is for something like the FemShep cinematic or gameplay trailer. They put all that work into her and had a couple of big voting contests and a lot of threads...  Now they need to show off what they created.  And they certainly aren't just going to release something like that haphazard.

Whilst that may be true, that application was calling for Unreal Engine 3 experience, which again points to ME3.

I really hope there is no multiplayer, but I am guessing that there will be.

It's still inaccurate. The OP doesn't even have one damn mention of multiplayer. It doesn't even qualify as a rumor.
