That's what I'm shooting for, originality. 

I tried talking to the guy like, often. I'd be playing, feel guilty I don't like him, then talk to him to see if I'd change my mind. Still found myself thinking about Cheese Wiz rather than what he was saying. Ash isn't really my type at all, but at least she's interesting.

So the poor schmuck dies... a lot.

I love Michael Ironside, but Vega is supposed to be sort of the "new kid" on the block, inexperienced with the galaxy. Ironside's voice is just too... weighty for that kind of a role.

I was thinking the same thing. 

But for some reason, it now seems that a lot of people want someone  famous doing every voice roll in every video game now...

Ironside would be a better VA for one of the Fleet Admirals, I wouldn't begrudge somethign liek that.  But I believe that Vega's VA should be someone of lesser renown, it woudl give the character a more noobish feel.

The only person I can think of right now for Vega is Raymond Cruz (most recently played Tuco on Breaking Bad). He's getting older but his voice and inflections can still convey youth, and he looks a bit like the current face for Vega.
