Eh I guess anything is possible, but I doubt it. I would just find it a weird thing to announce at this stage of development anyway.

Process of elimination got it down to the only feasible thing in that list: release date of the Mass Effect movie, which doesn't excite me because we already know that's happening and it doesn't tell us anything new.
It's scary, but in my opinion it could only be one of these things:
1. Multiplayer (BSN forbid...)
2. Space combat with the Normandy
3. James Vega voice actor announced
4. More Ashley footage, including armor
These are really the only things that fit the parameters of the clues we've been given AND are feasible things to release info on pre-release this early on.
1. Would be freaking hilarious and basically Bioware trolling us.
2. Meh
3. The Voice actor better be awesome
4. The Fan rage over her armor not looking like a Sister of Battle armor would sate my hunger....for now.

Why would they need to embargo the information for several days if it was just a femshep trailer.Apollo Starflare wrote...
You would think it would be the FemShep trailer or summat. Could anyone seriously say that "a lot" of the Mass Effect community has been waiting for multiplayer to be in the game?

Out of all that, you ask why he uses gasoline? I want know why he didn't zip his pants back up. Must be a pain to run with your pants at your ankles.Neofelis Nebulosa wrote...

EDIT:
Well i concur..gasoline is expensive and shouldn't be wasted when you already got a thermonuclear device..it's just bad manners.

Nobody else has any plausible ideas for a "major announcement" that would require a multi-day embargo, so who knows.

Yeah, it basically means that it might be something that the press is playing.
Sounds like Multi to me.

I'd rather not have a multiplayer because it diverts resources from the single player aspect of the game. Point in case, Halo 2 (yes I know it was going to have a multiplayer no matter what). The campaign was only 2/3 finished when they had to release it, so they tacked on the most insulting cliffhanger I have ever experienced.
The only real bad thing about the Halo 2 campaign was the cliffhanger. Plus your assuming that the multiplayer component is large enough to divert enough resources to make the Mass Effect story mode much shorter than originally intended.

Casey did hint that he would like this genre to come back from the dead.
OTOH, freespace 2 scp is well and kicking...

X series anyone? Though it seems the new X-Rebirth is going to get "dumbed down" by how they get rid of a lot of stuff and freedom ...

So it'll mostly likely be a new gameplay feature/level, a confirmed squadmate, or the fabled armageddon multiplayer. (Shepard has Space Dementia you know...)
I don't understand the the huff n' puff over multiplayer myself. Eventually someday there will be a Mass Effect game with multiplayer so there's really no point avoiding it if you ask me. Also multiplayer is completely optional. If you don't want to play with the mouth-breathers you don't have to. Also developing a multiplayer mode is unlikely to detract from the resources put into singleplayer. Multiplayer development is almost completely seperate from singeplayer. Seriously there's very little crossover as the most difficult aspect about cobling together multiplayer is the network stuff.
If there is multiplayer EA likely increased the budget some for ME3 and then hired like 5 more dudes to specifically make a multiplayer mode. And if you insist "But it should have been spent working on the singleplayer!" that wouldn't happen. EA isn't going to pump in any more money into ME3 then they have to. They wouldn't hire those 5 extra dudes or whatever to simply make the singleplayer more complete. (Also more people on project is not always better. Really the quality of the game comes down to to the individual Devs working on it.)
Also Casey already said ME3 is suppose to be the same length as ME2, which was almost exactly the same length as ME1. I can't really see them making ME3 only 10 hours long just because they added MP. If there's one thing I'm certain of it's that ME3 will probably take some 40+ hours for me to complete the first time. I would not worry myself over the amount of content. I'd be far more concerned with the quality of the content we'll be receiving.
Honestly I was pretty surprised ME2 didn't have multiplayer given the effort the Devs put in to make it a more a conventional TPS. I'll really be shocked if ME3 has no multiplayer feature of any kind especially given that they're basically just re-using much of what they already had built with ME2.

So with that in mind, either the accouncement isn't about multiplayer or the marketing line about news we've all been eagerly awaiting is unintentionally hilarious.
