Runes

I mean, we're able to override one rune by placing another on top of it. But once we do that, the first rune disappears entirely. I think we should either be able to remove it beforehand or the rune that was set into the armor/weapon immediately returns to the inventory.

On one hand, the current system forces you to be very choosy with "special" runes. On the other, runes are pretty cheap on the whole.
While I agree that it's somewhat irritating to "lose" runes by re-enchanting an item, Ethereal, I don't know if it's that much of an inconvenience to demand a change.

The first rune disappears entirely because Sandal is running a racket. He isn't as quiet as we have been led to believe - he is rolling in coin from the rune business. Worthy? He works for Sandal. It's all a fiendish network.
Sandal must have married Elegant to solidify his network!

I think they did that because they've eliminated the "levels" that runes used to have. There are no more "Novice" or "Expert" or "Grandmaster" level runes; now the damage that each rune does is determined by the weapon or piece of armor you put it on.

I wouldn't say they're cheap. Really, they're expensive in terms of how much money you have. In Origins, you could acquire a few sovereigns from corpses, and runes of the higher caliber cost a lot of money.
The same thing applies here somewhat. You acquire a few silvers off of corpses, but the runes cost nearly 10 times as much as you acquire (for some of the cheaper runes). Since DAII is limited in how much money you get, it ends up costing the player money.
Or something like that. I don't know if I phrased what I wanted to say properly.
