Not sure if you guys pay attention to the newscasts in ME, but if you scare him off in either game:

ME1: News report says he picked a fight with a large group of turians and was beaten to death as a result.
ME2: Tried to hijack a vehicle, fell off the car, hit multiple vehicles on the way to the ground, and landed in a protein vat.

How creative can BW be this time?

Probably something like this. I suspect BioWare gets all sneaky and kills him off in a way that just tugs at our hearts.

You're both close. Here's how it goes down:

The Reaper Fleet invades the Earth.

Like a Celtic warrior of old, completely naked save for a thin coat of woad, a screaming Conrad Verner charges them armed only with a crude club.

Those Reapers who are neither wise nor fast enough to flee are of course smashed to bits. Conrad saves the galaxy.

At his victory party, after Conrad has ravished the entire asari population in celebration, he chokes to death on an errant olive pit.

Actually, I'd like to have Conrad Verner as a temporary squad-member in ME3.
Why?

Because you can show him it's not a walk in the park being a Spectre. Besides that, there is an opportunity Verner dies while trying to save Shepard. I'd like to see something like that: Conrad becoming a hero in the end.

Tries to attack a reaper in a gunship, which is destroyed throwing him towards the ground, hitting a half dozen ships on the way down before landing in a substation and being electrocuted. The substation explodes launching him into the air again where he is vaporized by a reaper beam, his ashes being sucked into the intake of a gunship, causing it to crash in a spectacular fireball. Then the reaper gets destroyed and lands on the wreckage before it's eezo core goes critical and leaves a crater the size of North America in the planet.
