Does anyone know what's causing this?
I installed the tucked hair mod, and thought that it was just that, but even the vanilla hairstyles have this weird box effect around them.

Here are some screenshots..

Any help getting rid of this would be appreciated.

I posted this in the "mod" forum because I thought it was mod related.
But even after clearing out everything from my override folder, these transparent black boxes still appear around some vanilla hairstyles.

A complete problem report as described in the read first thread pinned to the top of this forum would be helpful. The tucked hair mod doesn't generally cause problems, but may have conflicted with another mod, or there may be another problem with your game files. I would suggest a re-install. Some mods can cause permanent problems with your install. A reinstall should fix the issue.

Processor: Intel Core i7-2630QM, 2.0ghz
RAM: 8GB
Video: nVidia GeForce GTX 560,  v280.26

Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition from Steam.
DAO.exe v1.04, Launcher v1.01, Config v1.03

1600x900
Very High graphics detail.
AA: 8x
Texture Detail: High
VSync on.
Frame Buffer Effects on.

No mods installed -- Fresh install of game.

I completely uninstalled DAO and removed my Dragon Age folder from Users\\My Documents\\BioWare\\ and then reinstalled through Steam.

I still have the strange black, transparent boxes around people's hairstyles.
It is very distracting on many characters.  Would like this matter resolved.

Previously had a problem authorizing Awakening on my game, but I resolved it thanks to this thread:

So, it's definitely a problem with the game files or something.
Tried turning all the graphics and AA down to minimum, still black boxes around their poorly rendered hair Posted Image

Steam has a file-checker built into it (I use it very rarely, so I couldn't begin to point you to it). That should identify if there is a problem file. You may be having graphics driver issues. Nvidia drivers after 270.61 have sporadic issues with DAO and DX11 issues with DA2.
