I need to reinstall windows and was wondering is there a way to backup your saved files so when I reinstall the game I can just load from where I was? Thank you!
I am using Windows 7 if that helps.

Yep. Very easy.
Open "My Documents" folder and then "Bioware" -> "Dragon Age 2"
Copy "Characters" somwhere (to your PenDrive or to another HDD)
Reinstall your Windows, reinstall Dragon Age 2 and put that folder back to the same location

You may want to backup "Settings" folder also to keep your Game Settings
