Overland Map scale?

I understand that the overland map is not really a realistic representation of the campaign setting; for one the settlements are much too large for the actual map scale. But what I was wondering is whether there is a convention for the map scale on the overland maps? Based on a comparison with FR maps, it seems to be roughly 10 miles to the grid square, give or take. That's probably way too large compared to the rate at which the game clock moves (because you can literally travel hundreds of miles in a single day). Does anybody have any better information?

Thank you.

Not sure what scale the SoZ maps are, but there's no inherent scale you need to use. Regular building placeables look about right at 1/10 or so.

Yes, placeables-wise, they seem to be reduced anywhere from 50% down to 10%. I'd think you'd want the map scale to be appropriate for the in-game travel time though.

It would be interesting, but you'd have to change the game length of the day. Walking between cities (SoZ) would more realistically take at least days, if not weeks. At the speed of the day in nwn2, that would not be fun.... click on another city, walk away from computer and come back in a few hours.

Yes. I suppose I should view the day/night cycle as "representational" on the overland map. Otherwise I might as well just leave it at perpetual daylight, but maybe add in some random weather effects. Hmm...
