Does anyone know what's causing this?
I installed the tucked hair mod, and thought that it was just that, but even the vanilla hairstyles have this weird box effect around them.
Here are some screenshots..

Any help getting rid of this would be appreciated.
Processor: Intel Core i7-2630QM, 2.0ghz
RAM: 8GB
Video: nVidia GeForce GTX 560, v280.26
Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition from Steam.
DAO.exe v1.04, Launcher v1.01, Config v1.03
1600x900
Very High graphics detail.
AA: 8x
Texture Detail: High
VSync on.
Frame Buffer Effects on.
Even tried a fresh, mod-free installation of the game.
I completely uninstalled DAO and removed my Dragon Age folder from Users\\My Documents\\BioWare\\ and then reinstalled through Steam.
I still have the strange black, transparent boxes around people's hairstyles.
It is very distracting on many characters. Would like this matter resolved.

It's an alpha issue. I don't think you are seeing anything else other than it's natural glory though, as there's nothing in those screenshots that stands out. Alphas in DA are pretty ropey.

Huh.
I don't really remember if I saw these boxes when I played DAO before...
Tried a few things, like setting AA Transparencies in the Nvidia Control Panel for this game to 8x Supersample, nothing gets rid of it.
So there's no alpha layer patch or anything that fixes them?

It's an inherent feature of the engine. You can see the issue generally only occurs where the alpha overlays VFX or other alphas. It's fine against the skin on the side of the head for example. The Eclipse implementation of alphas (and limitations thereof) has been one of the issues we have struck a number of times with custom props in BGR.
