A call to decency

I kinda want to touch on something. Mass effect is a great series to a lot of us, and we all want mass effect 3 to be the pinnacle of the series. But before Bioware releases it, I would like to make one desperate plea.

Please don't sell us out to DLC. Mass effect 2 got some decent DLC, but, there also was a lot of additional content that was way overpriced, ready from day one and way overpriced for what we got out of it. I just don't want anything like this (http://www.ripten.co...c-to-a-new-low/) to happen. And no, this is in no way an attempt to compare GoW3 and ME3, dont go down that road in this topic.

Basically, do not leave us hanging by locking a lot of content on the disc away for us to buy extra, like microsoft likes to do to so many games these days. I want to be able to enjoy mass effect 3 to it's fullest extent, for the price I pay in the store. A fair price.

I hope, and pray, for the best.

Sadly, this isn't up to Bioware.

Isnt It the devs that put the locked content on the discs?

Wait .. what overpriced mass effect 2 DLC was ready from day 1?

The two first DLC's were free and the first priced one came months after release.

Decency also includes actually representing facts as they were.

I recollect several weapons and armor...

I think Bioware was pretty reasonable with the DLC for ME2.
Dragon Age 2 on the other hand... don't even get me started on that one.

They weren't day one and until then we had already received 2(3 if you count Zaeed) free dlc's.

Unless mistaken, I'd assume the dlc is moreso up to EA.

I want Gears 3 but that is nuts. I'll still get it as I play it for the single player anyway but that is stupid. As far as the topic Bioware was very good with the ME 2 dlc I have no doubt the ME 3 dlc will be the same.

I thought this was a call to decency between BSN members...

I guess it's just as well it isn't because that would be a call that falls on deaf ears.

None of the ME2 DLC content was on the disc, except for a handful of Zaeed and Kasumi files (e.g. their comments during recruitment missions).

i didnt think it was over priced. it seemed pretty good compared to call of duty where they charge 1200 microsoft points for four maps.

I can't recall anything being overpriced.. 160 points for the armor packs is fair, almost more than fair for the kestrel armor and firepower packs. Can't really say I agree with the OP on this one

Compared to other companies i think EA/Bioware was very fair with their DLC.

GOD it burns my soul to admit that EA did something well!..

You really don't know how to highball for leverage, do you?  Even if you think it's fair, you don't SAY that to the developer!  Jesus, if they think everybody thinks it's "fair" then they'll start pushing the envelope.

Decency? From EA? Good one...

Seriously, ripping customers off seems to be bon ton for publishers nowadays and EA is class primus in "Squeezing cumstomer 101".

But then again this might be a good thing. At least you might be so pissed about the expensive DLCs that you will not recognise how Origin steels you private data from your HD. And with private data I mean bloody everything you can think of, even data not related to the game like your PCs perphereals plus serials, surfing behaviour etc.

I am pretty sure in 10 years from now EA will demand a blood test, a full Genealogy, a certificate of good conduct from you and all your relatives and a declaration of income for the past 5 years.
And you dont need to worry about DLCs anymore, since ES will automatically debit the money for the next 5 DLCs from your account.

Then start a consumer advocacy group and boycott games, stage protests, conduct letter writing campaigns, use the media, etc.

Pretty sure "there is a scattering of complaints on our forums" isn't going to change anything from EA/BioWare's perspective, especially since they're holding onto whatever metrics convince them their DLC model is profitable.

Personally if I were to do such a thing, I'd be going after proprietary currency (Bioware Points, Microsoft Points, that kinda thing) first - because that's a nickel-and-dime-you rip off.

OP you so crazy. Dont you know companies like to release unfinished games so they can hit you up for more cash later for item packs and characters(stuff that should already be in the game). Why make a complete game when you can milk your customer base with DLC. Im guilty of buying a few here and there but this day one DLC stuff is a complete turnoff. Gears took it to another level.

Damn, that is despicable. If a company is comfortable with driving out sensible people then I'll be happy to oblige them by leaving them alone. I care about where and how I spend my money. If you want my cash you have to make it worth my time to invest in it. That's why I haven't bought any dlc for DA2 other than Sebastian which I would swear has most of the work on the disc already considering it's a 30mb download.

It's not. Crap like skins/weapons/armors should cost less than a $1 considering how utterly tiny the content is. But I don't expect that to happen considering DLC is publishers' new cash cow.

What's worse is all the idiots saying "I'd pay more for [insert object here]".  Makes me wonder how they get/make their money

I thought the DLC for ME2 was priced about right except for the alternate appearance packs but they weren't expensive I'm Just too cheap to pay for alternate skins.
