Are there any differences in the storyline/dialogue/etc. by doing LotSB before or after completing the SM?
Thanks, and sorry if this is the wrong forum or the question has already been answered!

I don't think there's any difference with the mission itself, BUT if you invite Liara up to your cabin AFTER the SM she will make some additional comments about the way the SM went and the SM in general. If you have the Arrival dlc, too invite her up after doing both the SM and Arrival and she'll add a brief blurb about Hackett. That's only difference I've encountered.

It's designed to be played after though the only differences seem to be just some dialogue from Liara.

No, there's also a couple different lines when you talk to the Shadow Broker.

For my Shepards:
Paragon: Mission before SM, Liara invite after SM
Renegade: The whole thing after SM
I think LotSB is fairly easy to fit in.
Arrival is really bad though because to me, it really only makes sense after the SM but you get Hackets message right after Horizon and it is rather time sensitive. If anyone ever finds a way to mod the thing so that it triggers after the SM, please let me know.

Yeah, even though devs said it's implied LOTSB should play after SM, I think it can to fit anywhere. Arrival doesn't even make sense pre-SM since then after SM you get a cutscene of the Reapers still far away from the Galaxy lol. And frankly, from what the devs said, it's pretty clear Arrival-post-SM is the canon way.MrFob wrote...

There are some differences in what Liara says to Shepard in Shepard's quarters on the Normandy after the mission is over. If the Suicide Mission has been completed, Liara comments on Shepard's success in stopping the Collectors, if it hasn't been done that, she remarks on Shepard's efforts to defend Horizon.

I had a feeling that this was what happened when you played the LotSB after the SM. The question is is it better to play do LotSB after the SM to get that extra bit of dialogue or before so you can get all the upgrades and all the investment opportunites on the SB's ship once Liara has become the new SB to use towards the SM?
