Right, I have been playing ME2 since it was released. Never had any real problems with it.
Now I came across something really weird - I have a character that I have been playing for a while, and there are plenty of save games for that character. I can load every single one of them in game, no problem, I can make new saves as well.
However, if I go into my actual save game folder, that character doesn't exist. A folder with the name of that character can't be found. All of my other characters are there (one is listed twice for some reason), it's just that one that is missing.
I searched my entire computer, and there supposedly isn't anything with that name on my computer.
Now....if the saves don't exist, how come I can save, load and play said character? Is there a different place ME might have saved that char? I'm pretty confuzzled, so if anybody has a good idea what is going on, I'd be more than grateful.

Will be able to give more answers if we actually knew something about the system you are running.
Example: The Steam version is known to occasionally put its saves in different locations to the harcopy/Origin/D2D versions. If you initially installed by one of those versions, then enabled it through Steam, it could have kept the path to your old saves intact, while creating a new save location.
Windows version and admin rights might also have something to do with it.
