And, also, that they don't rush the bloody ending this time.

This.

I replayed it the other day; that last bit where character M goes crazy and character A spoilers the spoiler is incredibly, bafflingly sudden.

There's no foreshadowing, which might be the point, but it means I interpret it not as "flawed humans finally snapping" but more as "we've run out of main quests so here's the ending!".

Then there's the whole "Remember that thing from fifteen hours ago? Somehow M has it and she's now insane. Cue anime -style acrobatics and tacky boss fight!"

At least Loghain had character ambiguity and the darkspawn were unambiguously dangerous. Relying on two (no, three, no, four if we include the Arishok) insane characters to drive the main story made me long for the plot of just about any other Bioware game.

There's actually a lot of hilariously ironic dialogue in a spoilery spoiler quest in Act 3. It's only apparent after you'd beaten the game however. So the spoilerly spoiler thing in the spoiler zone does seem sudden and out of no where.

And yeah, that was likely the point.

In general I find the ending to be weak. You end exactly where the beginning said you would, without any deviation. And some seem to believe it's a cliffhanger but I disagree with that. I find it's just a bad ending. There's really nothing left hanging, everything it asks is answered. There's just a clear setting, drama, and course set for the next game.

I seriously doubt Hawke will have any part to play in the next game. That story's done as done can be.

Your right about Hawke but i do think the Mage/Templar conflict will be a big part of DA3

I happen to hope that Mage thing is the entirety of DA3.

I really hope those things Sandel says happen in another game or an expansion or something. I'd hate to see Ye Ole Greater Threat appear and end the war. I don't want to see them team up against a bigger universal monster.

Nor do I want something to suddenly change the status quo to the point that the war is pointless. I want a clear cut winner. And I think some player choice on who wins and how would be fantastic.

Looks like we both want a Mage/ Templar war as the core story i've done the blight story already and the Mage/Templar conflict was brewing all the way back to The Circle Tower. Really to the Mage Origin when i wanted to kill that Templar. It's a sold storyline that will effect all of Thedas.

I highly doubt that a "marriage" will solve the appeal problems DA:2 brought to the series. People loved DA:O because it was one of the few RPGs to come out recently that kept to more old school style of RPGs. DA:2 was Dragon Age is name only, the game was almost a re-skinning of Mass Effect. How exactly will you "marry" the two when they are inherently different? Will we see the true tactical nature of DA:O return? That would mean scrapping the development short-cuts of bad-guy closest on every roof-top. It would also require the game to be harder overall than DA:2 was, which I'm sure was factored in as being accessible to the console crowd (no pun intended). Chances are were going to get a compromise... not a "marriage". Whether the compromise leans towards origins or 2 remains to be seen, but if game popularity and sales mean anything, DA:O wins by a long shot.

DA3 will certainly be a compromise and since i liked both games i'm gonna be ok with it. Those of you that want a return to Origins are probably never gonna be happy that ship has sailed . DA3 will have a more action orientated combat and that's actually fine with me. I liked the direction DA2 went it just wasn't executed well enough.   DA2 type combat but more realistic with DA2 type character design and graphics with the RPG depth of Origins is what i want to see. Finishing moves are needed.

Hey, hey, hey thats enough of that!Posted Image jk. I agree to much insanity in this game. I dont just mean bosses or main characters either. Every mage in the game was coocoo for cocoa puffs as well. That was one of the worst parts of the game for me. I like the mages. In reality I believe in freedom and equla rights for all people no matter, race, gender, or sexuality. I believe the same for all peoples in my Dragon Age game. In the first game the mages were portrayed really well. You had the good one's like Wynne and then bad ones like Uldrid. Either way you saw light and dark just like with regulare people. With the mages in Kirkwall however it's no wonder the Templars hated them so much. Bioware gave virtually no reason to save the mages. Every single time a quest went down with a mage or dang pretty much everytime you saw one they were resorting to blood magic. I get that they were being pressured and all but seriously not every mage is going to go bad to save their skins. They portrayed mages in all their bloody glory but showed almost none with compassion and kindness. Even Orsino went bad. Some mages would have realized there are boundaries that shouldnt be crossed. Guarenteed most people still chose to side with mage's but if you are pretty much hanging your game on this one "big" descision you need to portray both good in bad otherwise it doesnt have the same affect.

Also I do not think the Arishock was insane by any means. In fact he was probably the most sane in Kirkwall. Following his ways and beliefs does not make him crazy. That would be like me judging you for how you lived you life. Its what he believes to be correct. In the end he does what he feels best. Never once did he lose himself to the temptations of Kirkwall. He stood by his word and never backed out. He judged all by the same standards and most were seen as unfit. Honestly if all you knew was order and duty in life then you went to a place such as Kirkwall you would find it blasphemous. Thats why he acted and tried to take over Kirkwall. He was a well developed character that suited his race and stature. But its your opinion not to say your wrong this is just what I believe. I think most people agree as well.

Also changing the topic for a second, I really felt like the idol would be more important. All that time saving up money, having it stolen, being hidden in such a strange place, the way it made Bartrand crazy made it seem like it was something really different. I was disappointed to see it turn back up out of nowhere as a sword. There was so much potential with this item but then Bioware let the ball drop. I kinda hope we figure out some more about these lyrium items in the future. Like where they come from and why why they rattle everyones marbles.

Bioware is a great company. So they made one mediocre game, we still have to have faith. If they do what they say they are going to then DA3 could easily be better than the first 2 games. Origins is still my favorite game to date. While I didn’t think DA2 was that bad it definitely had problems. It seems the perfect contour of Origns in all ways. All they have to do is merge the best of both games, make the awesome story and characters they are known for add some new moves and some cool addition and it will be the best game of the series.

I expect to see touch ups on DA2 action, similar mage animations where he shifted from long to close range based on enemy distance and location, no reused environments, decisions that affect the game, our old decisions put into effect, strong intriguing companion characters (I dont care about sexuality), better companion customization, better communication (more similar to Origins), Friendship/ rivalry meter, awesome companion banter, DA2 style romance scenes, Similar romance layout to DA2 (kind of develop overtime, characters come to you, actually seem to show emotion. I however would like to be able to kiss my companion whenever once in the romance, small but I found it annoying in DA2.)  Fast but not to fast combat that focuses more on tactic then DA2, redesigned elves and darkspawn, more tactical play, class specials open to all characters, the ability to travel, more armor varieties, new class specializations, better (Da2) graphics, Origin stories (not as many but a few with stronger story impact, a better lead protagonist (one that easier to connect to, an Epic story like Origins, and a ending decision that actually changes the outcome and feel of the game. This is what I expect, which really is not too much since they already have the layout for most, less insanity.

I would like to see more weapon types (spears for warriors, like those metal claw like gauntlets for rogue, some cool weapon for mages), cross class trees and specials (kind of like what they keep talking about for Tallis in MotA), class specific abilities, race selection, more customization options for faces (hair, tattoos, eye color, blood marks, scars, maybe even an earring or some random stuff. It will let us make a more unique detailed lead.) Also new spells, Female tal-vashoth LI companion, Morrigan, the architect, cooler armor varieties, An ending that is more happy (ala Origins with the celebration, bid farewell to companions, do whatever) and a ending where its kind of sad or bitter sweet (this makes the game feel more real since even the hero is not immune to everything that happened and is affected by it, ala Ultimate Sacrifice. Does not have to be dying it could be something like choosing to leave for some good reason and leave everything behind, you get the drift.) Companion communication where when you are in camp you can talk to your companions whenever (not just when there is a quest and the rest of the time you get a generic response) you do not have to be able to talk about everything on the road, you can stick to special situations when exploring.

Either way DA3 will make or break this series. Oh well Legacy (and from the looks of it MotA) gives me high hopes for the series future. Posted Image

That's fine by me, but there is one thing I hope they change: I'd like fewer spider encounters, please. I hate those freaking things!
