As many of you know, the ps3 version of mass effect has made many people very upset. You can't seem to get ANYONE to answer from either Sony or bioware about the
VERY known corrupted save data file.
Let me take a minute to share the frustration of potentially hundreds, if not thousands of ps3 mass effect users that feel theyve been duped.
I play games to the max... I do not miss a single thing when I go through rooms and areas. You're talking to the guy who will look at every corner, get every hack, unlock every door, find all codex's, go through every investigate dialogue, scan every planet... You name it, and I've done it. And I'm sure there are others who do the same.
So I can't stress this point enough.... When you've done soooooooo much in a game as great as this, only to have it randomly freeze at a random point for no reason... Then restarting the system only to find ALL your saves files deleted. Not just one, ALL of them. How angry do you think myself and others got? Throwing controller at the tv? Swearing for hours on end? Or maybe the best description is like when I lagged during diablo 2 once with a level 94 zon on hardcore.... To come out of the lag and find my character dead... I just sat there for an hour in quiet, staring at my dead zon. (if you don't know, hardcore mode means if you die once, your character is gone)
Dont you think an issue as big as this should be put on the games fineprint "WARNING, MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY COMPLETE THE GAME DUE TO HAVING YOUR SAVED FILE BEING ERASED"
I can't even find myself able to start over on the ps3 out of fear this could happen again, so I repurchased it on the PC. I think I will do a YouTube video soon to make sure everyone knows the facts before they purchase defective product.
It might as well be fraud... And I hope no one else wastes their time and money on this poorly tested game. How can it be out for almost 10 months on the ps3 and still no fix? Xbox would have fixed this MAJOR PROBEM in the first week.
Selling my ps3, selling all games, and will never buy Sony again. Thanks, just thought I'd vent my frustration even if no one cares.
Playstation/bioware on selling a defective game.

Before I bought the game I heard that the game could wipe your entire hard drive or something, which sounded pretty weird. Fortunately haven't had any major issues (though there have been bugs). It's distrubing to hear that alternative saves can be wiped though. I'd hate for that to happen.
Can't say I put Bioware in the same category as Ubisoft...man, those Assassin's Creed games were games from Hell...bugs and glitches every which way.

Today the game freezed on me and I lost a 40+ hour character including ALL my savegames (around 30). I was a few missions away from taking the Omega 4 relay! This is the most frustrating game problem I have EVER encountered.
I thought to play safe and create multiple savegames because I heard about the problems in the beginning and thought that this was fixed with patches but HELL NO!
Why the HECK are ALL savegames saved to a single file on the PS3? What's the use of multiple savegames when you loose EVERYTHING if the game glitches.
MAN i'm really sick of this.

Are you guys sure you've installed the latest ME2 patch? The save file corruption issue has been fixed. I have 2 60+ hr complete playthroughs and have only had one instance of freezing, but my saves were never corrupted, ever.
Also, I highly recommend backing up your PS3 save data via a USB drive or something. ME2 save data is NOT copy protected. I transferred all my saves from a PS3 that was affected by YLOD to a new one with no issues whatsoever.
Still, sorry to hear about your issues.

Yes, I am running the latest patch (v1.03) where this issue was supposed to be fixed.
Now I started over from scratch as a female shepard. and backing up my save after every 1-2 hours of play, I guess that will be standard issue for all of my games from now on. I don't want this to happen ever again, EVER!

I thought the safe suggestion was to exit the game after about 2 hours, restart the console and then resume the game. Rubbish I know but if it prevents complete loss of your playthrough(s) then it's a small price. And yes I agree that this should have been fixed long ago if it hasn't been already.
