I have a feeling he will soon be referred to "that guy who isn't as cool as Grunt."

Will say this, he looks more like the marines I saw with my brother and frankly, if he was there in ME1, I would have crushed hard on him. For one, he looks like someone who wouldn't take any bull from a female Shepard and another, he's had my vote since I found out that he beat a group of batarians with a television.
Where the hell have you been all this time, Vega?! It's too late for me to change my mind now!

No ones as cool as grunt. Not even the guy with the top hat and monocleAdmiralCheez wrote...
He's kind of ugly, but in the endearing way. Looks alone isn't enough to make a call, though.

So no he isn't an attractive male from an aesthetic view point.

but I'm mostly curious about the straight female audience here
considering above, and the fact that lesbian women are not a target audience when it comes to Vega, I'm not sure how productive answers from people who don't actually find males attractive as a rule - are.
personally - I think Vega looks great. he reminds me of MMA fighters, and they are basically my type - with or without tattoos. (the again - I follow bodybuilding and I find professional bodybuilders to be good looking, unless they go for so much bulk, that they lose the whole point of bodybuilding - building a proportionate body. I like muscles, I find androgynous, slender males not to my liking, visually).
what would make him perfect if he were like Beast. and I'd love it if there were instances of people underestimating him due to his earthy appearance, only to be crushed by his intellect.

We're screwing with the OP thanks to his (I think) inaccurately wide net in the topic name.jeweledleah wrote...

It's silly to think that muscles = stupid, I agree.Collider wrote...
A refreshing answer. I don't get the hate for muscular men. It's just muscle, it has no affect on one's intellect.
My issue is that he has a toad-face. Which makes him kind of cute, maybe, but not sexyfine. Which is great, because I really don't need sexyfine to appreciate the character.
Nope, what sold me was the TV-knife melee combo. Freddie Shepard's body is ready.

The body...overboard much? My fiance goes to the gym and he is at least twice as bulky as he was when we started dating. His dad and his big brother have both had success in wieght lifting championship accross the world...and none of them look like Vega. At all. There's bulkiness and then theres "whatisinhea steroods?!"
Then there's the issue of his face...I honestly don't know if this is just a taste factor but WTF Bioware? Piggy nose and pouty lips?
Don't know if that one still render just fools peoples' eyes or if this is some kind of "what's on the inside is what matters" - attempt...

Otherwise, at first look, I do find Mr. Vega attractive. He's not super handsome, but he does have that sort of charming look about him.

There better be an option for Shephard to degradingly and correctly guess Vega's entire life story from the day he and his friends got together in a vacant field in Northern Arizona and decided to play football with the new "pigskin" his daddy bought him for his special 10th birthday, to the day he enlisted in the Alliance Military after failing to get into a decent college but getting into a DUI related auto accident resulting in the deaths of two passengers in Vega's vehicle.
