Loghain > Alistair when it comes to a contest of who is the biggest slaver and murderer of innocent people. :wizard:

Loghain > Alistair...as a tyrannical, Orlais-phobic traitor who killed his king. Yep.

Okay, admittedly I think Alistair > Loghain, BUT I did turn Loghain into a Grey Warden exactly once. After chatting with him, I can kind of respect the man that he was before he went completely bonkers over Cailan accepting help from Orlais to fight the darkspawn.

To be fair, Loghain went completely bonkers over Orlais about 40 years ago or so, whenever the occupation happened.

He just got progressively worse over the years.

A part of me wants to Loghain just because of the voice over... Simon Templeton <3 <3

I have to be honest, I kinda wish he wasn't the quasi main villain.  I just liked he presentation a lot ....He was the Yang to Duncan's Yin.

Loghain > Alistair if you like people who want to kill you, poison people, claim that you're a traitor, claim you killed your king, etc... Of course ^^

He's so polite to you when you visit his tent though. It would have been great if Loghain said

"Oh you're the Grey Warden that survived...ergh....I kind of liked you..."

Loghain scratches his head "Especially when you said Cailan seemed like a fool."

I was understanding of everything Loghain did accept his turning a blind eye to the elves being enslaved. From how he was in the books to the game, this was the only action I really did not feel was in character, the whole reason he hated the Orlesians was how they in all but name enslaved Fereldan. Surely the irony was not lost on Loghain in regards to what he was doing, as a person who feels lore and story is more important than anything else, this never sat right with me...I could picture Loghain doing almost anything for his country, but selling it's own citizens into slavery, absolutely not.

Err, Simon Templeman isn't it? Oh, just looked up info on his other roles - hey, he was Kai Lan in Jade Empire! Ooo, didn't even realize it, but it's been a while since I played that - heh.

Loghain was a true badass and Alistair is nothing but a ****. Loghain made the decisions he did out of necessity. He had to make the hard choices and was willing to live with the consequences.

Meanwhile Alistair prances around avoiding his noble lineage and whining and crying whenever the PC does what he needs to do to save the kingdom.

Had him join my group for the sole reason of the 1000 bonus points, he got for his appearance in TST.
However, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more to his betrayal, than the simple phobia of Orlais.

Still, I prefer him characterwise. Alistair might be fun to have around, but Loghain has so much more depth. Really enjoyed those few conversations i was able to have before the end

You know, I loved being able to use the persuade option to talk to him.  As I tried it, I figured that like so many other characters at the beginning of an RPG, he'd be "too important" to give me the time of day, but what the heck.

Lo and behold, not only does he come out of his tent and is super polite, he even congratulates me on completing my Harrowing!Image IPB

I was both amused and pleased by that.  I still wouldn't choose him over Alistair though--not by far.

Selling slaves to Tevinter was in no way necessary.

Ok guys, go then support dictators in Africa who just did the same as Loghain and write a bok about them. Cause most of them killed their previous leader and order to excute anyone who try to oppose just like in the game. I sincerely prefer a wuss than a men who want me dead!

Exactly, not only that, they were Fereldan citizens he was selling, in the Stolen Throne it's clear he isn't overtly racist against elves or anything, and his love of Fereldan and his motivation to keep it's citizens from being enslaved, really just makes the fact he was doing it sit really out of character with me.

I was positive Howe had done it behind his back, but when confronted with it, Loghain all but shrugs his shoulders, clearly having made the desicion himself. Despite this seemingly out of character moment, Loghain is still my favorite character in the game.

Don't worry, I didn't know about the other name. I just went with Templeton because it sounds more British to me for some arbitrary reason.

And I take it Loghain is a completely douche in the books? I have to admit Alistair is one of the more likable NPCs I've come across in a long time.

You'll get a mixed reaction about Loghain in the books. (As you do here as well).

He wasn't as much of a douche in the books, but if you ask me he was always a total douche. He just gets worse with time.

Him and his daughter.   The apple didn't fall far from the tree, it seems.   She was real broken up about her husband's death....

Who wouldn't be upset? Its basically like losing a more Goofy and aloof version of Alistair.

Ummm, that was sarcasm. He meant that she wasn't even remotely saddened by it.
