Whatever you want it to be. You only have two choices. Pick which one you think you'll enjoy more.

They start with the best stats for mages but in the endgame any race can probably make up for it with items.

Elves are for the Girly Man class. There I said it.

From what I've read, they are definitely best suited to be mages and are behind the other races in terms of starting attributes for the last two classes. However as Randir pointed out it doesn't really matter in the end since you can easily close the gab, which isn't THAT wide, with the right items and skills.

Rouge *cough* erm I mean rogue probably works slightly better than warior with elves since it's more reliant on special moves to get by and Will Power affects your stamina score. That said, the stat differences are pretty much a non-issue after 5-6 levels, given you get three attribute points per level up.
