No. No one smokes in the 23rd century. It's considered a barbaric activity.

Considering that they have removed the poisonous stuff in the tobacco in the Mass Effect universe, I can't see any harm in that.
I didn't even knew that, and as for the smoking chars there's the Illusive Man...and thats pretty much it for the main ones, i think thats not fair.

"The traditional health risks with smoking were no longer a concern in the 22nd Century; advances in the fields of chemistry and medical science had eradicated diseases like emphysema and cancer. Yet there were those who harbored a deep, fundamental hatred of this simple act.
Ancient legislation passed in the mid 21st century banning tobacco was still in effect within borders of several of Earth's nation-states. Many viewed cigarettes as morally abhorrent; a symbol of the callous and exploitative corporate indifference that caused millions of deaths in persuit of shareholder profit."
But why the hell not. There's a cure for it in the future, so why not smoke up all the cigs you want right? Ah whatever. Heh.
I also want bogey-eating Shepard when he picks his nose.

Yeah, no kidding. Personally, I'm glad Shepard doesn't smoke.

All you do in real life is spend 5 bucks a week/day to legally give yourself and everyone around you an increased risk for cancer and a slow death. If in the future those problems were solved then it's even more pathetic and meaningless.

Smoking has a nice little gift of reducing ones life expectancy.
Considering that we would likely be living to 130 years in the ME universe, that is hardly an issue.

Don't tell that to a smoker because they'll argue with you for hours on why your wrong. Trust me I've said this many times to smokers and they all say the same trash on how everyone is wrong and smoking isn't harmful. <_<

I wonder if with enough propaganda could drinking alcohol incite the same negative reaction.
Well you are wrong in this instance as all the ill effects of smoking have been eliminated in the ME universe.Computer_God91 wrote...

That's odd. Pretty much all smokers I know regret starting and recognize it as a bad habit.Computer_God91 wrote...
