In a game, that is rated mature, has blue side boob and exploding children - I don't think smoking will impact it's image that much.

That being said - I think it would be kind of an unnecessary addition. Maybe throw in a pack like the Fornax magazine but having a specific scene. Naaah. Smoking a bogey isn't like taking a swig.

There seems to be this misperception that one will get asthma or cancer if someone is smoking around them or even if they have a single cigarette. Folks, this is not the case. You have to be around it for a long time - I'm talking like a decade. Someone just doesn't wake up with cancer or asthma because the guy next to them waiting for the cross signal happened to have a lit cigarette.

I don’t think it has much to do with wanting to be anyone’s mom. I personally don’t care if someone smokes. You want to throw your life away, then more power to you. It’s when smoker’s light up around someone as if it’s their right to do so that annoys me. Aside from the fact that the smell is atrocious and clings to everything within a ten foot radius--it’s simply rude. I don’t want to breath in someone else’s bad habit. I don’t want my clothes and hair to smell like an ashtray. And if someone does have asthma or terrible allergies or sinus trouble, smoking around them can trigger attacks. So as long as you smoke in your house, vehicle and/or property, it is your life decision. When you do it elsewhere, it stops being about you and begins being about everyone within your environment.

But I do agree with you on the fact that having Shepard smoking would add nothing.

Do you think shepard should be allowed to pick his nose, I think it would help the roleplay, and Im pretty sure i could make a shep that picks his nose and its a part of the character, so to put it simply if you can drink in the game, why cant you pick your nose?

Better yet a totally drunk shep going melee on a tresher maw, using an M-920 Cain on one bothersome husk while having no other ammo and in critical health, screaming on confused Garrus to use the damn singularity already, and for last running from grunt after kicking him in the ass for fun...........with a biotic throw:D

I keep seeing this point brought up as if it has any worth. I can list off dozens of things I hate the smell of: Red Bull, bubble gum tasting lollipops, farts, body odor....you get my point?

The rest of your post does have merit.

It totally has worth. The smoke clings. Red Bull, bubble gum, farts, and body odor don't. A month or two ago a mechanic got in my car for about an hour. I smelled the smoke in MY vehicle for about four or five days afterwards. That really p*ssed me off. So smoking on someone else's property is a stupid idea.

The point is that me drinking a Red Bull (and I agree, they do stink!) won’t cause your clothes or hair to stink. My chewing a certain smelly bubblegum isn’t going to cause your clothes and hair to stink. If you forget to apply deodorant, you might stink, but the scent won’t transfer to me as long as I am not physical with you. You can be sitting two seats down from me smoking and my clothes will smell like smoke long after you leave.

Wow that sucks. I can't argue with that mechanic smoking in your car. That's rude. I mean, dude should have at least kept the door and windows open so he wasn't blowing it around and making it obvious.

But my point wasn't so much about clinging just the way someone else smells. And I didn't make this point before but I don't believe my system has any component that allows you to smell whats in the game. That'd be kick ass though.

I remember this Dilbert comic where the were (fake) debuting the Sony Sniffman, which allowed you to smell the smells of your favorite stars and starlets! lol

And I don't mind the smell if it's just in passing. If there's no clinging, then it's not that big a deal.

I try to be as environmentally conscious as one can reasonably be. I am also very conscious about what I consume. There is a difference in breathing in air that has a level of pollution because you have to live, and breathing in polluted air because someone needs a nicotine fix.

Why care about that, we have it good, i dont think we'll see the end of the world by human hand in our lifetime and in the future we'll create ways to clean up the place or we'll die, but thats a story for a different generation
In other words f**k it have some fun, party hard every once in a while (or every day if you can afford it:D)
