At some point we will all live in a frigging bubble and be 'perfection' . We will all share the same haircut and dress all the same .  Beard will be classfied has barbaric and everyone will be perfectly shaved.

Walk the same and talk the same way has everyone else. Probably English with a strong snob accent.
We will have use texto and won't be able to do anything without a computer telling us what to do.

Haven't smoked for 1 years and won't touch any cig ever again . But you know what ? SMOKING WAS AWESOME FAT ASS.

Ironic part i was more fit and heatly that most cig hater.

I needed to vent a little.

Man the thread is still alive nice, anyway that "perfect" future sound pretty depressing, for me smoking still IS awesome, and yeah im very healthy too, but i started smoking when i was 18 (the legal age here), i just didn't like the taste before, but i tried it at 18 and i loved it, as for alcohol thats a different story but i wasn't exactly the good boy most parents wanna have, so thats my excuse and im sticking to it:).

Simple reason against:
Mass effect 3 has no "consumables" persay. There are no inventory items, and there are no quick-slots for equipping and activating trivial items, and therefore no slot to drop your ****s into.

Games like Deus Ex, System Shock etc that have smoking have proper inventory systems that allow you to drop them into an inventory slot and use them as desired. ME3 I guess could put it in as a headgear option I guess - but it'd be a counter intuitive place to put it.

Forget ethics, drugs and ESRB laws - theres a good simple practical reason against the idea.

Edit: ...lol censorship. "****s", if you can't talk about it, it speaks volumes of their official stance

Do you think shepard should be allowed to smoke, I think it would help the roleplay, and Im pretty sure i could make a shep that smokes and its a part of the character, so to put it simply if you can drink in the game, why cant you smoke?

100% of all people who smoke are weak-minded.  Shepard is not weak-minded.

Sudminator, stop trying to keep this sinking thread alive. Really? FIVE posts in a row up there? I don't know why this hasn't been locked its not even about ME anymore.

(ironic, because this will bump the thread but I know you'd have found a way to do it yourself)

It totally has worth. The smoke clings. Red Bull, bubble gum, farts, and body odor don't. A month or two ago a mechanic got in my car for about an hour. I smelled the smoke in MY vehicle for about four or five days afterwards. That really p*ssed me off. So smoking on someone else's property is a stupid idea.

I hate to break it to you. My dog's farts sure seem to cling. And there was this guy on this airplane sitting next to me whose body odor clinged to my clothes and I had to suffer through that on a connecting flight where he wasn't.

femShep smokes cigars. Liara has one of her agents smuggle them in from one of the Batarian worlds. And she keeps a dusty old bottle of bourbon around she's saving for a special occasion. I'd like to see her with a cigar in the CIC.

I'm also sure they've perfected those electronic cigarettes by that time. Nicotine doesn't cause cancer. It's the tars from the destructive distillation of plant matter that does. Although they've banned the ones with nicotine in Germany for other reasons.

FWIW, I quit about 7 yrs ago. 20 yrs, on an off. Two pks/day for the last 4. Waking up on Xmas eve hacking up a lung in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep because of it is natures way of telling you to quit.

My spouse and the mother of my 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter committed suicide in August after a long battle with alcoholism. How many smokers pull that BS? Alcohol is actually one of the more dangerous substances around, and kills as many if not more people than cigarettes yearly. Ever heard of a smoker crashing his car and killing people because he had smoked earlier that day?  How many Domestic Violence calls start with a nice smoke? I know, the liver disease, brain damage, schizophrenia, mood swings, suicide, depression, weight gain, and health issues related to said weight gain.... yeah they don't count. And that's on top of the THOUSANDS killed by drunk drivers yearly. Thousands are NOT killed by second hand smoke yearly, and that's a fact.

Alcohol was legalized/de-criminilized as a direct result of how many people were dying over it, and how violent the trade became during prohibition.  Oh... and the governement can regulate and tax it MUCH easier than cannabis, since Alcohol isn't ready to go after a little nature-made growing!

Exact same reason cigarrettes, disqusting little cancer-sticks that they are, are still legal.  Governements can tax them. Alcohol and cigarrettes both have absolutely NO health benefits, other than a bit of red wine being good for the heart <_<  But cannabis does!  It's proven to help with pain for cancer/aids patients, and tons of other issues.  But yes, some stoners just use that to get their bud.  It happens, but doesn't change those established facts.

Personal opinions about "eeeeewwwwww yucky smell!!" Don't make fact. You know how much alcohol companies pay to keep some stuff under the rug, or more correctly said, just kinda ignored? Or how much the lumber industry paid to ensure cannabis was made illegal when it became a threat as an easily cultivated, more easily used, stronger alternative to wood?

Anyone?

And no, I do NOT drink, smoke, or smoke weed, a family members issues when I was young ensured I educated myself, but didn't use them.   Ignorance, be it whether Morinth is a happy meal or a murderer, or people just talking out their ass, bothers the hell out of me.

Not to sound pompous, but I believe I have a win post, and we can now close this thread.

This makes your sob story in the beginning of your post look like a complete pile of lies and sh!t. Nobody who actually had their wife kill themself would go on the internet and say this right here only a month later, if ever. Nobody. You're pathetic. And if you did actually have a wife that killed herself I feel bad for her because you just showed her complete disrespect.

Wow there's a lot of finger pointing going on around here. Those people are bad because of X; these people are bad because of Y. Just remember, when you point the finger at someone else, there are three pointing back at you.

Don't judge other people's life choices. We all have our vices and coping mechanisms. One person may choose to somoke, another may choose to over-eat. Some may choose to live the cleanest life possible. Moral of the story: we are all Human, and we are all flawed.

You don't have to be a saint, but there's a gulf between that and being an addict, and yes thats what smokers are.

I knew a guy who ran a couple of miles each day ate carrots and died of a heart attack on the ripe age of 35, before I got into CG I used to be a carpenter and worked at an old ladies house once she was like 90, smoked a pack of cigarettes a day and started each day with a nice shot of bourbon and was perfectly happy and relatively healthy.
I am not saying that smoking and drinking is good, but to cut it short as mortals we have to die of something, someday and if you enjoy smoking just do it, if you enjoy drinking go knock yourself out, if you want to buy weed or lick a toad go and do it.
With regards to second hand smoking, yes that's a valid point, but when I am in the city I am lucky enough to inhale all those nice exhaust gasses of cars, factories and what not, when I eat I get so much artificial stuff with that, so that when I die I will keep intact 30 years after death because of the stuff that's in there.( read the etiket on the stuff you eat, you"ll be surprised).
If you really want to worry about something worry about:
-The alarming growth of the human race, our expansion is wiping out entire species/forrests, we are running out of natural resources at an increasingly rapid rate( fresh drinking water , oil etc).

So at the end of the day let Shepard have his smoke
