Just thought I'd share my crazy ideas and theories here XD. Well, I'm playing Dragon Age II again at the moment and I was speaking to that bartender at The Hanged Man and he said something about The Divine becoming old and that she needs to pick a successor soon. What if Leliana is chosen during Dragon Age III? She is close to the Divine and The Divine trusts her a lot. Is it possible for Leliana to become a Divine anyway?

What do you guys think? :)

what Act are you in? Because Dorothea becomes Divine in 9:34 Dragon, so if this happens in Act 1 it was talking about her predecessor.

I'm in Act 3 at the moment, which makes me more confused.

Unless the Divine does alot of handwaving, don't you have to be at least a Mother to be up for consideration for becoming the Divine?

"In the Andrastian Chantry, it is customary for a Divine to leave the name of her chosen successor before her death, but this does not guarantee their ascension. Upon the death of the current Divine, every Grand Cleric is required to travel to Val Royeaux for the Grand Consensus. There, they elect a new Divine from among themselves, or choose another member of the Chantry. The vote must be unanimous for a new Divine to be properly elected."

The Divine would presumably have to take Vows.

I don't really think it makes sense anyway. She's rather heretical, for one thing.

Leliana's view if the chant is too... modern, in lack of better words. The traditionlist mother and grand clerics would never allow her - a lay sister - to become divine.

Don't put too much into the rumors... They aren't set to appear in any particualr act, and does sometimes contradict what already happened in the game. You can get that same rumor from act 1 through act 3.

Imagine if she became the divine, the whole chantry will be one fashion show, she would most likly add that Andraste had awesome shoes in the chant of light

I have to admit I would laugh so hard if that were to happen. I don't see it, but the thought of it is hilarious.

If we're taking the Divine as direct analogy of the Pope then the Divine would always be on their last legs. They like to elect people who have one foot in the grave and stuck in their ways - or at least have already shown their hand in terms of allegences. That way they can be sure not to let any innovation in. There have been Popes who lived less than a month after their coronation.

So no. Leliana's too young, too spirited, too rebellious and waaaay too alive.

I don't know much about the Divine and how the Chantry is run but Leliana doesn't seem very suited for the role (even if she isn't 'hardened' in DAO.)

She seems more fit to be a Seeker...

And thus we see how the Chantry will lose it's political influence.  Not because of losing control of the Templars, not the governments or masses demanded they butt out, but because they elected a Divine who was just a bit too keen on shoes and people just stopped taking them seriously.  Talk about going out with a whimper.

In the circle tower of magi in ferelden when you end up in fade in DAO then you might if you have Leliana as companion then you will meet her in the fade when you get captured by the sloth demon. She is praying and beside her stands a revered mother. if you have high cunning skills then you ask leliana why she left the chantry and she says it was because of the vision she got.

So she is not following the chantry blindly considering that she´s got another opinion of the chantry and the maker.
