I think I'll roll a warrior my first playthough and the one skill point every three levels thing is going to make it hard to level up my 'speechcraft.' If I have a rogue in the party, can I just level up their coercion and use that instead?

No it's PC only. DA:O also does the force your mage to the front for conversations before battle thing. (Sigh)

During someone's playthrough I noticed she couldn't use the lockpicking skill of her party rogue from her warrior. She had to be controlling it manually. I'm thinking when you converse the only person's coercion skill you can use is your own.

Best reason to get the arcane warrior spec! It seems Bio wants me to tank. Who am I to argue?

I'm fairly confident that coercion is a PC only skill. The Prima guide gives this advice on skills, " Develop your team as a whole and not just individuals. For example, you don’t need four party members with Herbalism. One person who’s mastered Herbalism can supply all the potions, leaving the others free to spread out their points to other valuable skills. It’s fine to have two party members with Poison-Making so they can both enhance their weapon DPS, but also try out Trap-Making, and leave crucial skill points open for your PC to put into Coercion and possibly Survival. "

So, if all you are focusing on are combat training and coercion, you should be fine.

Leliana is a bard and Zevran an assassin that seduces his quarry. I expect both of them are skilled with their tongues.

Well, we all know bards are cunning linguists. Wait, is Leliana a romanceable options for females?!

That would be impossible. Try reading previous posts. <_<

I thought a dev said something that if you had Sten in your party he might use his STR to make threats in a convo ...

It was mentioned that companions have something similar to coercion/intimidate although I don't think you can buff it up in their case.

For example, faced with a guard who doesn't want to let you pass the bridge Morrigan would use her charms to convince him to change his mind, while Sten would step out and show him his sword up close and personal. Or something.

I guess it just depends on your companion's character.

Sometimes certain companions will step in for certain dialogues. For example in Lothering the Revered Mother knows Leliana and Leliana can convince her to release Sten. If Leliana is not in your party your PC must convince her on your own. But they have NO skill at it. It's just specific dialogues.

Blessed Silence I believe you are confusing the Intimidate option. Intimidate looks at a player's Coercion, Strength and party level. Persuade looks at Coercion and Cunning. Often you will get two options in dialogue. A Persuade option and Intimidate option. Your 40 STR warrior will use Intimidate much better while your 40 Cunning rogue has a higher chance of success with Persuade.

hey, if coercion is used to persuade and intimidate people, if your companions have it, can they persuade you? would their coercion skill perhaps affect what options you have in conversation?

Is reading so hard for so many people? You just have to read the first and second post. Companions do NOT have the Coercion skill. Period.

In DA, necromancy is not illegal like blood magic. So it's well within his rights to necro.
