The best surprise would be mod tools/level editor of some kind.

Agreed, but this would never happen because it would damage their DLC sales.

Nop, DA:O has a mod tool and DLC.
The problem is that Bioware doesn't own the Unreal Engine, only games from Epic (Like Unreal Tournament) has mod tools

So there's no legal way for EA/BW to buy a license to have mod tools? Epic never allowed mod tools of any kind for any game that wasn't their?

if it is multi-player, it had better be co-op. If not and it is matchmaking, I will be extremely dissatisfied Bioware. :C

If they did that I might even forgive a multiplayer feature!

Unfortunately I doubt they ever will. Given how easily moddable UE3 is, it's a real shame. The cynic in me blames the failure of BW to give us mod tools since DAO on their DLC business model.

Yep...
Think in all the games that uses UE that wasn't made by Epic and try to count how many of them has mod tools.
Business is Business and Epic must keep some rights so they can be above the rest when it's about engines (That's why they never release newer versions of the engine than the one that they are using right now)

OK, but BW does owns the engine for DA2, yet they never released the mod tools for that game.

So I'd imagine the primary motive for not offering mod tools is their DLC business model.

BTW, are there other UE3 games, aside from Epic's own, which offer mod tools?

That would be cool but hard to implement. I too hope it's not MP but if it is it's not a gamebreaking issue.

That's a real shame. So many older games I still play, like Thief, Morrowind, etc.,have had their lives greatly extended by virtue of their developers having the foresight to create user mod kits. That's one of the reasons these games continue to sell ten or more years after release.

There is a discouraging lack of vision in the current generation of the game industry.:(

Only on BSN would we think:

Killer New Feature=multiplayer...even when we don't want it.

Trying not to but the South Africa Multiplayer ad shook me up.  I think we have to face the facts, chances are it's coming no matter what.  It certain follows the trends to fps gameplay.

I won't believe it unless BW says it themselves.

And Fozee is right, we need to move on.

Yeah but they're owned by EA.  I won't totally rule it out given the direction the gameplay is going.

Come on whywhywhywhy. We've had enough "EA is evil." statements on these forums for this year.

Maybe it is the vehicle system? Didn't they say they were reworking it big time at Gamescom? Cus I doubt we're going to fight the Reapers mainly on foot.

Competitive multiplayer would be a lame addition IMO, but co-op could be neat depending on how it is implemented.

If it's something they've been working on for months, polls aren't going to change anything. And frankly, at this point if it isn't something they've been working on for months I doubt it's happening.

If by "months" you mean around June then multiplayer is almost guaranteed to be a dud.

*shrugs* Fair, but the main point I'm trying to establish is that at this point in the game's development multiplayer either has or has not been being constructed for a long time now. Some poll isn't going to do anything.

I will post this again since some of you can't get it through your thick skulls. The only way they would be able to implement co-op/multiplayer at all is if they totally revamped the classes. As of now with the current combat system it is impossible. You would have to totally revamp the Soldier and Vanguard class since their signature abilities just would not translate the way they are now. Not to mention they would have to throw out the pause feature when you are choosing abilities from the wheel. The dialogue choices would have to be revamped for co-op as well which doesn't make any sense if this a story about the adventure(s) of Commander Shepard not anyone else. This particular game just doesn't scream multiplayer/co-op at all.

Edit: Also it has been mentioned here that the new special feature has already been confirmed via twitter not being multiplayer.

I'll buy it no matter what, but I'll be disappointed if they have multiplayer, because every weakness in the single player campaign I'll be thinking "They wasted time on MP."

Not an entirely trivial point. I may be bought into ME, but I'm not committed to their next series. If I want multiplayer, there are plenty of options. DA2 was a disappointment, if ME3 disappoints... well, the "auto buy" goes out the window and I start buying "on special" or "in the bargain bin". And I'm not the only one.

As a pol once said, "you dances with the one that brought ya". I hope Bioware hasn't forgotten that.
