Just to weigh in on the whole MP speculation.....
It would be astonishingly bull headed of Bioware/EA to force, and I make no apologies for the verbose, MP on ME3 after your own staff has gone on record saying that they have investigated integrating a multiplayer component into the ME3 franchise, and I'm paraphrasing a bit here-"And couldn't find a way to make it fun".
I hard for me to imagine their own staff saying it sucks and jam it in for reasons I can not fathom. "O.K., they did not say 'sucks' , just not fun"
I am having difficulty finding the exact quote and from who, I believe I saw the excerpt from the interview/talk/twit whatever on one of the online gaming mag sites, IGN/Gamespy/Gamespot what have you. Maybe someone can help me out with that one.
(Edit : Correction, IIRC it was relating to ME3, not the franchise as a whole as I remember the statement)
saw something like that in an interview with casey hudson at comicon, or the other con thing (sorry can't remember). gonna go check.
edit: found this http://beefjack.com/...r-mode-surface/ but i am not sure of the sources cited, and this from same source http://beefjack.com/...-3-demo-coming/ . i think we will find out one way or another this week at bioware pulse episode. this second later article talks about demo with beta mmo. hmmm
Naw, note of those. Your thinking of the following quote from Casey H.
"We've been trying to think of a way that makes
sense for people to experience Mass Effect with their friends. We
haven't yet come up with a way to do that, so we don't have anything to
announce at this time. But, obviously, multiplayer is something we want
to do more of in the future as a company"
Thats just more vague PR nonesense from the CH. Par for the course.
It might have been this quote I was thinking of, or something close to it. This one was from Ryan Warden.
"I mean, it's a big
universe, with a great story and tons of interesting characters, so why
wouldn't we want to share that in the multiplayer space? But we've still
not figured out the right way to do it. There is always a way to do
things."
And thats from Mid Augest of this year, just six weeks or so ago. Not the reference I was looking for, but it would still be bafling for Bioware to include MP at a time when your staff is of the firm belief they have not figured out the 'right' way to do it, but ram-rod it anyway. It would be such a colossul diservice not only to ME and Bioware fans, but for the people out there that actually want a solid MP component. (Watch some knucklehead suggest they went from that to multiplayer game of the year in 2-4 weeks flat)
That being said, and giving Bioware the benifit of the doubt-I
believe the whole new feature thing is something other then multiplayer. If you ask me what I
think? Well then I'm not sure honestly.
