Well Thane did say Hanars are trying to cure that diseases and we do have almost a year for that to happen.

As long as it's Thane vs. every other Drell with Kepral's, then I'm kind of okay with this. Still, considering his "incurable" disease, and Mordin's age, I was expecting both of them to die to make it easier on BioWare. I do approve of their inclusion, but a cure for Thane seems... seems kind of like a copout from a really good, personal death scene. I guess it's because justice for FemSheps who romanced him has gotta be served.

Why does Thane need to be cured of his illness? Among the first things he said in ME2 was that he was dying from a disease to which there was no cure. And that, while the Hanar are working on a cure, it would not arrive soon enough to help Thane. That added a lot to his character and while I know it's far too soon to be drawing conclusions, especially since it's based on a leaked article with no way to really verify the info, it sounds like BW is trying to take the easy way out of their previously established plot line by somehow having a cure for Thane's illness now.

Granted, I was originally against Thane being cured, because it seemed like an easy way out, but... given the "free pass" paragon option in Tali's trial... you've gotta expect that sort of thing from BioWare now.

I don't need to.  What I'm talking about is UNDEBATABLE.  Your link is wikipedia, someone misguided attempted to talk about what they don't completely know of.  So instead of posting a worthless link go look at the games from back in the day, learn a little about the history and evolution of games before talking to me.

The switching of perspectives in 3d is nothing more then a game engine CAMERA TOGGLE.  During the period 3D was being introduced the genres were defined by the players.  Players coming from the 2D FPS's choose to either continue using FPP or try out the TPP, cinematic(in some titles) or others.  Then 3D started to be applied to everything and 2D games started to dry up. 

Why do you think a game like Thief was made ?  What would classify it as ? Seems like a FP Stealth/action game to me.  Tons of games were doing things like this, trying new things hoping to find a fomula that worked and that fans would like.

Some genres went with a TPP, mostly action games redefining themselves like prince of persia which inspire games like tomb raider which fueled the use of TPP in action game due to it's success.  Some action games even had FPP or multiple camera perspectives.  Why ?  Because it was a function of the game engines and to grab fps fans they didn't lock it out. 

As the FPS genre progressed eye candy encouraged TPP and it grew in popularity and has become what it is today but it is no mistake TPP has ALWAYS been a part of FPS in one form or another since the beginning of the 3d conversion.

The proof is in the games and their game engines not some arbitrary wiki link.

What if all the hub bub over the internet caused a retraction ?  Something along the lines on BW contacting the magazine and tellng them to hold or pull the "killer new feature" because as you've pointed out Thane, while a killer isn't a new feature.

It's gonna be interesting watching the speculation and news until launch.

It's not all that unfeasible. In all likelihood, the article in question is done, and might have been done for some time now.

Sure it's possible... but considerign how high the expectations is, it's more likely that it's not the case... I mean, come on - if I were that magazine's publisher I would purposefully leak controversial info and false information to hype this hell out of the community. I'm sure they are aware of how this might boost their sales on that issue.

That would be a terrible thing for a publisher to do. If you make an issue with a cover story, then leak the cover story - regardless of whether it's real or fake - you run the risk of people not buying the issue at all. After all, why would someone buy your magazine for a cover story that they've already read?

I was under the impression that the "killer feature" would be gameplay mechanic. Unless there's something new that can be done with squadmates I doubt Thane/new squadmate is what the headline is referring to.

I agree - killer feature imo implies something less specific than character related news.
