So i broke my old computer, which was a core i3 with 6 gb of ram (trying to find it to see the specific model).
i bought a new Acer Aspire 5750 9668 figuring it would bet "better" because of a core i7 albeit 4gb of ram. (dont know much about computers im afraid :/). (http://showroom.mitc...t&product_id=90 that one i think)
on my first relatively cheap computer i was able to run mass effect on high settings without difficulty, but now when i attempt to run it, nothing happens. No error message, no black screen, nothing. It just says "another instance is running" if i click fast enough.
now, is this because im ignorant to something and bought a sub-par computer for twice the price or is it because of a driver issue or summat :/

• Intel GMA HD 3000 Graphics Card (256 MB of dedicated video memory and up to 1348 MB shared)
That is your issue, intel graphics crap isn't supported or usually good enough to run the game.
read some of the threads about getting them to work if you want, but you will have issues because of the crappy vid card playing various games.

ah, that would explain it, i was under the impression the first one also had an integrated graphics card, must have been a different kind :/.
weirdly enough, this computer seems to run better with starcraft

Its pointless trying to compare Starcraft to Mass Effect. Its like trying to compare Microsoft Word to Mass Effect.
The rendering engines are completely different, and require different levels of shading, rendering, filtering and such.
